Seeing all the missteps just saved me the installation fee, as I ordered an opener while watching, and I saw that even with a few mistakes, it's still pretty simple. DIY is doable and following the instructions is good too. Would've liked to see how you adjusted the door at the end. Thanks for the tutorial!

No one ever addresses for me the worst part of garage opener install….cutting the angle brackets! Not everyone has metal cutting tools at there disposal!!

Good explanation of how is is done, the removal and installation. I suggest a n angle bracket at the ceiling since the moto is cantilevered and it's mass is creating an angular static force forward. I just didn't understand why the motor end of the opener is removed before the end on the wall.. Having to lower the motor with the wall end still connected might not be possible if it is attached close to the spring. Why not unhook it and let it rest on the spring while the motor end id detached. Everyone seems to detach the motor first but why?

A decent garage door insulation the few recommendations I recommend is on both garage door opener’s fix the emergency release it is not tied off correctly you supposed to use all of the rope you supposed to put two small knots one at the end of the rope in the other on the other end of the rope and with the belt drive opener I recommend seeing if the door is on balance because the belt has way too much slack in it or if the belt was just installed incorrectly so let me know if you get that checked out

I thought this video would be helpful. However in installing our own garage door we ran into the problem of the belt bar being shorter than our old. Made adjustments/support that looks exactly like his and it sways like crazy. Would never feel comfortable parking my car underneath that,m. After a lot of tinkering and tests, decided we would have to move the hook up into the ceiling which required hiring a pro. Costs of time in this experiment about $1200 (12 hours $100). Not Shane’s fault. Just doesn’t work and wanted people to be aware before the waste so much time.

You must have the right length bar for the door size you have, manufactures sell parts to add to the length . Standard size is 7' doors anything over that needs a extension

My new opener install was similar to this where the new opener was about a foot short of the old brackets hanging from the finished garage ceiling. I saw how you extended the bracing on your opener unit then the diagonal bracing to help pick up the weight. Thanks!!!! That idea helped me out.

Besides the belt drive being a little bit loose with the belt the emergency release rope is tied off wrong where the handle is

Don't think you tightened the belt enough, also how is side movement of the motor? I noticed you used a extension cord for the motor, big red flag in the directions.

So once you set the tension by releasing that silver washer, that's about it for removing the belt? Seems like it would be tricky compressing that spring again and resetting the silver washer.

I was hoping to see how you adjust the travel limits on that thing, why did you skip that part?

Very easy, hold the middle button till a beep is heard. Then press the up arrow button until the desired open position is reached. You can adjust up or down with the arrows as necessary. Then press the center rectangle button, it will beep. Then repeat for the closed position. After you finish the up arrow will flash, just press it once and the door will open, then the down arrow will flash, this will close the door and complete the limit/ force setup.

I bought a similar door opener. I’m glad I’m not the only one who had to undo things after assembling. Unless you install these often, it can be tricky. I bought the 1.25 hp by the same company. I love it. This one comes with a feature that automatically closes the door after 10 minutes if I forget to close it. That in itself is worth lots to me. Thanks for the video Shannon.
