I didn't know that propane gas bottles had a lefthand thread when I was trying to disconnect one on a gas barbeque last year. Both our Coachman and the Lunar had butane bottles and the regulator just clips onto the inlet for the gas bottle. The bottles need to be kept upright. The Lunar had a 15kg bottle when I bought it so I bought the correct 7kg bottle and sold the bigger bottle.

What a life saver had the van 3 years and never had to change the gas and when it finally ran out it was as a dark wet night so to have a easy to follow video was great many thanks

I ran out of gas the other day in the middle of cooking dinner, and this video literally saved it! Had some memory that it was a little complicated until I looked up this video. I have tried re-connecting the gas supply to my caravan after shutting it down for the winter but no gas s coming through the pipe. I have turned on the valve on top of the cylinder and opened up the gas tap just behind it. I have also opened up the taps situated under the seating, to the various appliances but i'm not getting any gas through. Can't help feeling I've missed something? can you help please

I can't help but wonder if it's ever crossed your mind to check that the 'O' ring is in good condition and in place followed by a 'soap test'. And while you're at it, are the hose and regulator in date?

Silly question, but when you first buy a calor gas bottle for a caravan, do you also need a regulator, or does it come already supplied with one? I have seen the red coloured regulators online but your bottles in this video don't appear to have these.

Hi Tom, not a silly question, but here goes. Some caravans have the regulator mounted to the caravan and all you need to do is hook up a tail pipe to the regulator and gas bottle. Older caravans have a regulator fit directly to the bottle. so check if you have a regulator on the caravan and if what gas type it is intended for. Hope that helps Dan

A couple of times I've done it properly, then there is a leak. Then in a few days all the bottle is empty. Why is that? I is thick or the bottle comes with defects?

Don't tap the connector on the bottle. It's made of brass and very soft. Even a small mark or grit on it can cause a gas leak.

No, not on modern leisure vehicles. The regulator is fixed to the vehicle and short hose connects the gas bottle to the regulator.
