Your 3 year old video was exactly what I needed. Thank you!

I like this on a number of levels: 1. Clear instructions are given. 2. It honestly portrays literally any project I tackle at home... "hang on, I gotta find my pliers" "switch doesn't work... let's try a different bulb." No cut aways or edits... this is totally indicative of the "shit happens" principle. Thank you

The suspense was killing me! Thanks for some really simple and clear instructions on how to repair this. I have a lamp that has the exact same problem. I now feel prepared to fix it myself thanks to you! I may have to cross my fingers AND toes, but I'm going to do this today.👍

OMG! Thanks for posting this video. The switch broke on my favorite lamp. I watched your video and bought the replacement part at Home Depot for $2.97. I was able to successfully put it on the lamp. So very happy that my lamp is working again. 😀😍😁

Thank you for explaining the principle of the switch mechanism! I was trying to install a switch on a cord that did not have one, and the instructions only said to make one cut in the wire. Needless to say, I could not fit the wire into the switch, nor get it to work properly. I should know by now to always search KZbin first before undertaking any DIY project!

Not to mention the instructions on the package had a diagram for a model of switch that was different than what was in the package, so I was trying to install the switch upside down. I guess the manufacturers just assume everyone already knows how to use the product or they will be looking up instructions elsewhere.

Thank you! I put a new switch like this on years ago, and of course forgot how. I learned a lot from your closeups, especially regarding the brass "pokey things" ! One fell out of the old switch after I opened it, and I could not get the "wheel"out to put it back in, and could not get it back in with the "wheel" in. I keep everything (except garbage) so I took a switch from an old cord that I wasn't using and followed your video and my lamp is again working!

Excellent instructions he went through every second of the step and I was able to make my transfer without cutting the wires the new switches have that channel so if you put the long wire on that channel the other two will fit on top when you put the top of the switch and screw it all the way down hard you will make the connection just like he said thank you so much and BTW I'm a girl LOL

Awesome video! Question. Can you replace just the switch part of the lamp socket? Like the part you turn. 🤔
@karldias14152 жыл бұрын
Just the round disk. No. You have to replace the whole switch. I don’t think they sell just the knob.

Mr. Dias, I'm replacing mine because turning the switch would cause a spark. How should I proceed since the wire is actually burned on one side. I don't want the new pointy thing poking into burnt black insulation. Can I cut out the burnt part of the wire and rewire?
@karldias14152 жыл бұрын
Yes you can as long as you have enough length to rewire.

Awesome clear instructions! I was able to fix my table fountain switch. So glad you pointed out the metal pointy portion that pierces the wire. That was the key to fixing my switch. Thank you!

The new switch does not come with any instructions, which means it is impossible to install correctly without going on the internet and looking for instructions. I brought a switch home and ruined my wire because I cut both lines and tried to install it completely incorrect. The people at Lowes did not know how to install it correctly. This is a defective product when it is sold without install instructions.
