Great video. I have a question. I changed my thermostat to a 180 and didn't tune my fans. But ever since i changed it, my temp keeps goin up to 226 when idling parked then my fans kick in. When i had the 203 temp stayed bellow half. Should i change it back. I have a Dodge Durango 12.

Well all the torque wretches I see only go as low as 10lb. What if I got that, could I make that work? Thank you so much for your help. God bless you.

Your right I ran into the same problem you found, you have to buy an inch pound torque wrench (20-200 in lbs.) I bought mine from Home depot and they are kind of spendy. Amazon has one that is not to expensive. www.amazon.com/LEXIVON-4-Inch-Torque-2-26-22-6-LX-181/dp/B07M68FY3X/ref=asc_df_B07M68FY3X/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385124930314&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6037305717737381078&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9033784&hvtargid=pla-1031821805752&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=80210700684&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=385124930314&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6037305717737381078&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9033784&hvtargid=pla-1031821805752 /K&K

What is your advice if you don't have a way to measure the torque when tightening? As in i may have to do this only by hand. Thank you so much for your videos!!
@KNKRNR2 жыл бұрын
This thermostat neck torques at 9 FT Lbs. If you don't have a torque wrench go a little past the stop point and call it good. Better for it to leak and add a little bit of torque later then break the bolt off. /K&K

Definitely the most well-documented t-stat video on YT! Was that actually a legit 195°F? I hear OE 195s for 4th gen Rams are stamped "203" on the flange? I checked 5 auto stores near me and all carried only 180°F and 203°F. Do you recall what brand/model number t-stat you purchased?
@KNKRNR Жыл бұрын
The brand in the video was Murray from Oriellys. It was stamped at 195F. Rockauto has this (MOTORAD 416192 192 Degree). I wouldn't run 180F because at that point you will be over cooling and fuel economy will suffer. The radiators in the 2009-2019 are so big that even if you have a 203F T-stat your running temps will still be 186F-197F if the radiator isn't clogged. /K&K

@@KNKRNR Oh nice. Thanks for the info. Exactly what I wanted to know. I really appreciate that. The temps are about to dip this weekend so I need to get this done soon. I really need to heat my garage, lol. 👍

Just recently replaced my thermostat because my engine ran cold, now it’s running around 230f but originally replaced because my heater wasn’t working and now i’m seeing my top radiator hose is staying cold even when engine is warmed up any ideas what could be wrong it’s a 5.7 hemi

Either its not bleed out right, got a bad radiator cap, or you got a defective T-stat. Did you make sure the bleed valve was pointed up? Do you have heat in the cab? /K&K

@@KNKRNR bleed valve on thermostat? and no still no heat inside cab. it fixed my problem with engine running cold though once new thermostat was changed the old one was broken.

Do you need to reflash the ECM for the lower temp thermostat? How the radiator electric fan will know that a lower temp t-sat was installed?
@KNKRNR2 жыл бұрын
No you do not reflash the ECU. The computer has pre set high / low limits to cycle the electric fan when needed. /K&K
