This video was perfect, showed me that my quality of labor will thrive on my k25 rebuild. I just hope I remembered to torque those leaf spring bolts after 11 shots of vodka

"Us mechanics"? Most (I hope) would have scraped and block sanded the surfaces clean before attempting to 'stick' the gasket's adhesive to dirty, oxidized aluminum! Clean is the doctor's friend. Leaks will result otherwise...

Theres 3 types of thermostat at 3 different temperatures ratings which would you suggest for 5.7

So how much fluid should I drain out before replacing?
@Saw_Squatch6 жыл бұрын
Timothy Burnsed you don't have to, it's not a pressurized system

My gauge is always reading just a click over cold, however I did notice a leak coming from hose from radiator leading to the thermostat. There seems to be pressure causing this since the clamps are tight on the hose. I think its stuck open maybe time to change thermostat on my 74 Cheyenne Super stepside. Thanks for sharing.
@Saw_Squatch7 жыл бұрын
240fxst yeah thermostats and gaskets are cheap, just swap them out and maybe even replace the hose and clamps while you're at it. have fun with that truck of yours

hey so i'm kinda confused i have a 81 el camino and it's not on the front of engine similar to yours, it's a v6 and the closest resembling it is on the backside of the water pump, like it's built into it... please help!
@Saw_Squatch8 жыл бұрын
+creezygod I've seen el Camino v6's before and it appeared that they were set up similarly. But if yours is different then I would start by checking wherever the radiator connects to the engine, that's usually where the thermostat is on these. Otherwise I would do a little more snooping around online to try and find either a walkthrough or a repair manual. Haynes makes a really good and comprehensive manual for all different kinds of vehicles that I recommend to everyone. Sorry I can't be of more help.

i found it, following the hose was the best tip; it's got a bunch of other things on top of it making it very hard to tell so now the adventure of figuring how to get to it begins, Thanks a lot!

Dont use chrome sockets on an impact youll ruin your sockets

nice video. if you have leak problems by your thermostat. Thats because you are suppose to remove the old gasket first. razor blade and wire brush works well. i can see fluid on your intake manifold thats why.
@Saw_Squatch10 жыл бұрын
That fluid was from the old leak before I replaced the gasket, but thanks for the tip, and that's what I actually did to get the old one off

Jeremy Burgess that sounds like your transmission Modulator. If you buy an aftermarket adjustable one you can adjust it by screwing it in more of screwing it out. The good thing about this modulator is as you can find to in your ships with those I recommend them just Google it and you'll find a bunch of them probly have a Turbo 400 maybe that's what I'm thinking that's what I had
