if the old belt is still intact and not jumped time you can create your own timing marks with a marker or something on the timing gears and corresponding marks on the old belt. once it's off count the teeth between the marks and transfer the marks to new belt. so easy and quick, and you really can't mess up the timing.

Kudos. You always teaching us with your great videos. I'm looking forward to change my timing belt, rebuilt the transmission, and change the rear main seal in my Accord 99 V6 3.0. I just wanted to show you and other people here this video in spanish about how to synchronize not the only the camshaft and the crankshaft, but also the other two gears (front and rear where the belt gets around too. Very valuable info. The rear gear has two marks (on the gear and the shaft). And on the front gear you need to get that bolt out to insert a long screwdriver all the way in. That gear has one mark but he says it won't matter if it doesn't have the mark if the screwdriver goes all the way in, I guess just to be safe get that mark and all the screwdriver in. On minute 6:45 he also explains to do not rotate the camshaft without the timing belt, and that if you do, then you should rotate the crankshaft mark on a horizontal plane(way). And depending in what unsynchronized position the crankshaft gear mark, then you move the mark to the closest horizontal plane (90 degrees). And then move your camshaft to put in the right up/mark position so you won't damage the valves. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJCpXoyCj9Blqqs

I love Honda tBelts! I used to use a torch for the balancer bolt but, now I use a tool I made. I took a short 19mm and slid it into a deep socket that is about the same size as the washer and welded them together. That way the washer and the bolt both get hammered, by the impact. It is amazing and has never failed me. It's a 1/2 socket of course.

Just purchase Lisle 77080 19 mm Harmonic Balancer Socket for Honda on Amazon for $25. Takes that bolt off in seconds. Watch KZbin videos with that socket in action.
@mikegilmore8998
@mikegilmore8998 5 жыл бұрын
@@troyfall6573 I agree. Pretty much most people recommend an impact rated at >500lb/ft torque for the crank bolt. That plus the special socket should get them off. I haven't done mine yet but I have a 1400 lb/ft electric impact that takes axle nuts and rusted exhaust bolts off like they weren't even there so I'm not too worried.

I used a 4X Torque Multiplier and have never had any problems removing crank bolts. It is a lot safer, since the torque is gradually applied to the bolt, and I never have a problem where the bolt release and your knuckles smashes into something. Other than the cost I'm surprised that people don't use it more often.

Hey guys. I have the same engine. My belt broke on mines while sitting at a light. Tension pulley is the cause. The only thing is when it broke. You know by nature you try to crank it back up which makers the cam shaft spin if I'm correct. How can I get them all back in line. The top two are pointing in the 1 o'clock position and the bottom is well maybe at 5. Besides I've been trying to start it. By replacing other crap other than the real issue lol. Found the crank bolt comes out easy with an impact. The rear cam pulley is tricky to center and want to rotate forward or back instead of rest lined up with marks. Do not remove crank pulley Key or if you do realign timing ring, sprocket to crank. Mark old belt teeth before removing tensioner the make same marks on new belt to make sure rear pulley does not skip, crank and front pulley will stay put when using tips in this video.

After three days the panel clusters didnt lite up no needle movement again. Removed panel again to check for anything we missed but we didn't use masking tape to mark gages like the first time. All the gages were ok but the gas gage moved all the way down past full mark underneath the Empty mark And when we turn ignition in the clusters didn't come on right away it came on after we put it in drive. Can you tell us what what we need to do to fix gas gage. Ive watched other videos they said it didnt really matter where the needle was at so Im confused. Thank you i hope to hear from u soon.

I've seen that before on vehicles with battery terminal problems and or batteries with an internal short. I don't know the science behind it, but it seems like they surge. Another issue I've had personally is having solder joints that aren't shiny- not hot enough or not clean enough causing problems.

to whom it may concern..I did a very similar job on a KIA sportage..all went well except....on the top of the upper timing belt cover 7:28 there is a little plastic seal ..make DAMM sure this thing is tucked in because mine apparently got caught up between the cam sprocket and the belt and jumped the time about 60 degrees while I was tooling down the highway celebrating my successful timing belt/water pump job. Luckily, it didnt junk the engine..but it did wreck my trip to the botanical garden and forced me to redo the job. Just a heads up!!

This video is amazing in so many ways!! You can truly tell and see your professionalism here as you work your way through all these parts. I found your channel and video as I am doing research now in hopes to understand what all I need for a 2012 Odyssey 100k maintenance. If possible, can you confirm what I am missing? Forgive me as I am unaware of the actual names. Timing belt Hydraulic tensioner Water pump Spark plugs Is there anything else I should consider while I am at? I plan to have this done locally and not at the dealer but would like to shop around for OEM parts where possible. I believe in paying for quality parts and labor, but $1900 out the door seems a bit high at the dealership. Thank you!
