My 2015 USBC MacBook stopped charging. When I took it to Apple, they told me the port was faulty and the entire mainboard had to be replaced because the USB C port wasn't a separate component but soldered directly to the mainboard. Now that I've watched this video, it confirms my suspicion that Apple deliberately lies to customers about products not being repairable so that people are forced to buy a brand new computer. I will now collect the computer from the Apple store and take it to an authorised service centre for repair. I'd be curious to know who else has been told the same thing by Apple - their behaviour is unconscionable and probably illegal.

Is there a way to do this without a battery isolation pic? or can u tell me the dimensions of the cutout so i can make one out of guitar pick? Googling it only sends me to ur store and id rather not pay 10 pounds for shipping

Thank! My usb-c port broke twice on my laptop. Also once on both my daughter and my sons MacBook. Apple doesn't deliver the quality they used to.

It was probably our fault yes, but when you have a lot of work to do or when you're not tech-savvy you sometimes use your electronics a bit rough. I used it like anyone would use any USB port and it broke during normal use. You can compare the USB-C port to the lightning connector for iPhone (the cord, not the actual port) in durability.

+Zoutepoel It seems like the quality went down a year after Tim Cook took command of the company. I guess he’s trying to save money by lowering the build quality, which might save Apple money now, but not in the long run. Fortunately, I got my first (and current) MacBook Pro in 2011, before Apple’s build quality started declining. Though the way the software’s going, I’m starting to think I should have stopped upgrading the OS once I upgraded to Mavericks. Maybe the next CEO will restore the build quality. And maybe a new Mac Pro. And maybe a midrange upgradeable tower.

I need to to this job on my MacBook Pro crowed the wires and burnt it out on the power supply trying to turn the light on while i had black tape to cover the wires and they touched.
