If you have the rear differential apart, Please replace the two seals. I can't believe he put the old seals back in. Second they should have put a little grease in that inner needle bearing. One more thing is never use a torque wrench to remove nuts and bolts, unless it's junk and you will not be relying on it to measure torque.

all solid advice - i couldnt get the seals from the dealer and they said it could be weeks so i took a chance and reused the old ones. At this point i wasnt even sure if i actually fixed the noise and was eager to get it back together.

@mudbrats please explain those things about the seals as some people don't know about those things as why you didn't replace the seals...
@mudbrats Жыл бұрын
@@squidsquaw i couldnt get the seals - wanted to get my bike back together - i didnt bend them taking them out and they fit back in no problem and no leaks. So in my case i didnt need new seals. Obviously for such a low cost part, if you can get new seals replace them. They can be damaged on removal and the rubber does get harder over time so wont seal as good as fresh rubber

My big bear 350 was making a grinding noise coming from the left rear wheel, thought it was axle splines but it turned out to be the rear wheel just not being tightened enough and the pin was through it so you could not tighten it, took the pi out and tightened it now the sound is gone😂

Will a bad barring cause the rear to wiggle??
@mudbrats Жыл бұрын
That’s likely a swing arm bushing that’s worn out causing the wiggle. Right where it pivots to the frame

Why did you not put a new seal in
@mudbrats10 ай бұрын
I didn’t have one, and I wasn’t sure that this was the fix. At the time I was doing this, I was under the assumption from the previous owner that there was a major problem in the gearbox. My hunch was the rear end and I was right. But at this time, the seals weren’t included in the kit and I just wanted the unit back together to test. Seals were in good condition and 3yrs later still no leaks so I a, happy with the decision. If I even need to do it again, I will be ordering seals

What about the race on the passenger side
@mudbrats Жыл бұрын
it came off with the bearing. The bearing came out as 1 piece where the other side had disintegrated so the race remained in place and the balls and inner/outer bearing wear apart
