Thank you so much for this. Some time after the door trim blew off our 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan, we stopped in at a dealership to get a replacement. It was December 2017, and cold in Kansas, so the part was set aside until a warmer time to install it. Here, nearly five years later, and with my husband not having done anything with it, I decided to see if I could find some help on Google. Everything, right down to the small piece of lumber and a hammer, was just what I needed to be successful!

You have the patience of a saint 😂, mine started flapping today but it was only the tab pieces that unlatched. The screw was still intact to the black piece. My 9yo son decides to try and help and take it off while I start the car and i hear him on the passenger side say, mom i got it off. Welp now the whole thing is snapped off. He was so proud for taking it off. I said thanks for your help buddy you really did take it off lol 😮

I was having trouble installing, came in and watched this video and it solved the mystery of the torx (I thought it was just a position peg). I was able to go back out and complete it easily. Thanks for posting this!

Thank you! Especially for naming the T20 Torque- helped me find the right tool. I did cheat and peel off some of the foam backing below the clip and went it luckily split. Thanks so much for this video!

Thank you so much! I bought the part, but I could not figure out the torx bit problem. I googled it, this video was the first hit, and it was exactly what I need. Now I need to find something to hold that plastic in place...

Thank you so much for making this video. Our pillar blew off while we were on the highway, heard a loud bang/pop sound. We are having a hard time getting that little piece that breaks. We haven't been able to remove that torque/screw yet. But your video has given me some ideas to keep trying to get that little part off (It's down in the door, a bit hard to reach).

I watched a few videos on this. One he had it in in like 30 secs. Another took him 2-3 minutes. Me, I was approaching 20 mins as those clips would just not catch. My recommendation is get someone to help. I got my neighbor. He applied pressure to the bottom clip, I applied pressure to the top and we slid it down. Took 20 secs with 2 people to get the clips seated.

Just put one in my 16 dodge. I took the bottom section off of hard foam even with the bottom of the tab. It worked better and still has pressure for the tab to hold. It seems that the new ones have thicker foam padding to make it harder to install, it worked for me anyway.

Any tips on how to remove the plastic part that slides into the slot on the door? That part broke off from our old trim piece and is stuck in the slot. I need to remove that before I can insert the new pillar trim. Thank you so much for a fantastic video!
@PirateStu Жыл бұрын
Can you get a screw started into the plastic? Then you can just lift it out by the screw. Heat up a needle with a lighter, stick it into the plastic, let it cool, and then remove? A vacuum cleaner?

new vehicles are made so poorly now. plastic on the engine components, plastic all over the body, plastic all over the interior. they are made of plastics to keep the companies costs down. but when you need to replace these cheaply made parts that fail so early in the vehicles life, most parts prices are astronomical.
