how to replace ball joints in Polaris RZR 800

I never pay anyone to do something I can do myself. The 800 is a solid engine but don't go by Polaris recommended oil change hours. I change oil and filter every 25 hours. I appreciate your videos Travis. I watch them in advance for future knowledge of how things work and why. One question though, how does one know when it’s time to replace ball joints? Like with wheel bearings (watched that one too) you get side to side play in your hub, easy check once wheels are suspended. How do I check ball joints?

thank you for watching and for the question. check the ball joints by lifting machine off ground, grab top and bottom of tire and push toward machine if you feel it move just watch while you move it to see where movement is .if its the ball joint you will see it popping up and down.

I have a 13 rzr800 4 seater. She doesn’t turn left that good. Is that from maybe the previous owners work and it not being centered ?

I too have an 800 S, and I frickin love it. Work on it quite a bit. I have to do the ball joints like this vid soon too. Do you find you have to repair too many cv boots? Sticks are always takin mine out. So I was searching all over for stick guards for these S-ATV high clearnace a-arms, and there's nothing out there in way of aftermarket of any kind!! I have now tried to custom make them from aluminum shaping/forming with .060 tough aluminum, but now I see why there's none on the market..... there is no way to secure the front vertical plate in the front of a-arm. So if hit by rock or decent size log, they would bend back and cause more damage than good. Would push leading plate into brake rotor or cut CV boot even worse possibly. Interesting logistical build.

Is this super atv a arms??? And will ANY rzr 800 ball joint fit these arms???

yes they are from super atv. the stock ball joint fits the bottom . the top one you have to get from super atv.

I have a 2008 rzr that has a 2" lift and a really bad pump steer/staying aligned during the suspension cycle. I bought it with the tie rods on top of the knuckle. looks like factory is under the knuckle. will switching it back to under help the issue? I wonder if they put it on top because of the lift

M&J Lockhart yes under the knuckle is the factory way. Having it on top decreases the tie rod angle. I would check the steering box to see if it's worn out. Set your toe angle while machine is on the ground move it back and forth to settle the suspension out.

i had those videos on my other channel and that channel got hacked and stolen from me so i asked everyone to report for whatever they could and it took about a month to get the whole channel taken down . so those vids are gone, all of them. seven years of work and videos , all gone. i could possibly re edit them and put them up on this one. thank you for watching and asking the question.
