The “mechanic”at the lube n tire shop said i needed a new tensioner and I needed a special tool to do this. The special tool is a 3/8 drive socket wrench 😂. I was jus getting tires. Thanks 1A Auto!

At $15-20 for a new belt, personally I wouldn’t reuse the belt unless I had recently installed a new one. Thanks for the video. I will be doing this job soon on my 2011 Ranger. Your videos have already helped me do a couple of other jobs in the past.

As a Field Service Engineer in the Semiconductor Industry and a DIY mechanic, this video is top notch and explains everything well. The Diagram with the belt routing is amazing! Great job indeed!

7:17 Is the amount of torque necessary to release tension on the tensioner adjustable? I only ask because when I did this install, there was just no way I was getting the new tensioner to move without about 2 feet of pipe on the end of my ratchet. It was absolutely not going to move with just the amount of leverage I got from the ratchet handle alone.
@1AAuto7 жыл бұрын
+Ryan McGeeney Thank you for watching. The torque specified is what we have on record from the manufacturer. It could be that the previous owner, or a previous shop over tightened the bolts. 1aauto.com

Question, in this video the tensioner pully does not have a black tab on the outer rim opposite of the pully. Also the one in this video has a silver shield on. The pully on your link has the black tab along with no shield showing a black ring where the part bolts to the car. May you explain why the one in the link looks different than the one in the video?? or what is the purpose of the black tab??

Great videos again. Is it necessary to remove belt completely to replace tensioner?
@1AAuto6 жыл бұрын
+Dr. Crentist You might not have to if there is enough room to remove it. 1aauto.com

It also depends on if you want to fully inspect the belt, since you obviously plan on reusing it. For what it's worth, might as well check it
