How to Replace Belts on a Realistic Sears or Hitachi CED Videodisc Player

In this video we show you how to replace the belts on a Realistic CED-1 CED Videodisc Player. This process is the same for most Sears and Hitachi models. I changed belts 5 years ago on my realistic selectavision player. But it sat all summer. Now gummed up switch wise. And yes smoke in home.

Same machine as mine. When i slide a cartridge in and pull out cover. Everything lights up, side 1 and led for stylist, but won't go through steps , lowering record, and styist bar moving. Replaced belts years ago and cleaned. Stylist is at least 85 % Because when last played, Christmas eve, and had to insert caddy multiple times before starting. I just dont have eyesight to take everything apart again

Video is very helpful. I have a Sears CED player and changed the belts you showcase. However, I need to replace the belt in the back of the unit (timing belt?) and cannot find any information or what size I need.

Are you referring to the reddish orange toothed belt in the back. I have no idea how you would go about finding a replacement of one of these. You would probably have to source one from a parts machine. Unfortunately I do not have any Sears/Hitachi parts machines. Sorry.

If i clean the belts should they still be usable? Any idea where to find these little belts?

If the belts have not turned to goo you can try cleaning them and see if they work. If not I sell replacement belts, email me at [e-mail].
