I struggled mightily to do what looked to be a simple job. I have a tip that I believe will save you a lot of time and headache. The electrical wiring ends in a harness that connects into the bulb housing. Find a black tab on this bulb housing and press down hard, while simultaneously pulling down on the harness. If you are dexterous you can do this with one hand, if not, you will have to monkey both hands in these tight quarters somehow to do it. Once the harness is released from the housing, you can then easily turn the bulb housing to release it out of the headlight cavity. This was the ONLY way I could have done this. What I thought was going to take 5 minutes took 3 hours, 6 internet searches, and scrapes and bumps all over my forearms and wrists!

This light bulb installation was extremely difficult, even after watching multiple KZbin videos and reading the comments. Finally, after a warning citation from 1 lonely small Texas town officer later, I finally got it! I found a similar snap-on piece on the right side of the under hood, which helped me to understand what I was trying to snap. I tried to maneuver the flashlight to see clearly, then WD-40’d the whole thing like crazy! After tugging it repetitively, it FINALLY came off. Taking the bulb out was simple after that. Once the bulb was secured, I then slid the black plastic part onto the bulb. Btw, the local mechanic wanted to charge me $56.92 to do it for me. 😮.

For Honda Pilot 2015, fIrst open the cord. You can’t turn and remove the bulb without removing the cable. There is a slot with the cable holder which makes the bulb fixed and firm.

Wish I'd read this first!, my 2012 pilot bulb would not twist with the wiring harness attached. I Had to unplug that, then the housing of the bulb twisted out no problem.

Don't cancel until you've attempted. The job is harder (especially if it's the OTHER light which the lower air breathing assembly blocks) than it appears. Oh, never mind. It's been 11 months. By now you either accomplished it OR had a mechanic do it.

Just re-iterating what others have said - you have to pull off the wire housing before the bulb will twist out. On the driver’s side it’s darn near impossible to see what you you’re doing so you’ll just have to feel where the wiring connects to the bulb. You’ll feel a tab with ridges - you’re gonna have to push on that tab and pull down until the housing ‘unplugs’ from the bulb. Then you can twist the bulb out.

I ALSO struggled taking out the light. Dummy tip- take the wire off the light THEN twist the light off(twist toward the wheel) Also - Honda pilot light is typically H11 👍🏼

Thanks for the vid. I found easiest to use a flat head screw driver to easily press on the clip and then use my other hand to pull down on the harness. Then it was simple to twist bulb and switch it out.

You're paying for their expertise, for their payroll, taxes, overhead, etc. I won't fault them for that. Not everyone is comfortable doing this. When I go to a restaurant I'll pay $12 for spaghetti which would cost me 50 cents at home. But they have staff and overhead. Just saying, I won't begrudge someone earning a living by doing this.

The most important thing to remember is that you must remove the wire connection from the bulb before you twist the bulb assembly to remove it. If you do not do this you will not be able to twist the bulb assembly to remove it. I am referring to the low beam light.

At the risk of sounding like a jaded and bitter old man (which I've, in fact, become), the side you demonstrated is MUCH more accessible than the OTHER one (which the lower section of the air breather housing "conveniently" blocks. I managed to get the old one out BUT haven't mustered the courage to attempt to put the new one in yet. In addition, the bulb assembly does not easily turn (taking out OR putting back in. You have to make several oaths to ancient deities before it will cooperate. WARNING: the job looks easy but it is not!

I hadn't seen this video yet but my driver side low beam bulb on my 2013 Pilot is NOT this easy to access. In trying to remove it, I completely broke part of the connector off. Now I'm left with just the bulb/electrodes stuck inside. You can't remove the headlight unless you remove the front bumper and now I will have to do that. Not happy at all but even with smaller arms, I could not get the proper grip on that side to turn/release the bulb.

Your was not that helpful. You need to disconnect the electric off of it before you can turn it. I struggled following your way. But luckily my brother is a mechanic and came and helped me like it was not a problem because he knew what he was doing. This video is misleading.
