You did a great job - BTW if you came to watch the video to learn how to put cables in then you shouldn't COMMENT about the camera work - you are way behind the curve and the guy in the video is more than one up on you. YOU DID A GREAT JOB and disregard any complaint of the video quality as most of these people would know one end of a camera from another.

Folks, how do you put Control Box back after repair/replace the old one. Mine is attached by 3 bolts through the box, then rubber spacers and secured on the other side of the plexiglass board. There is no access to those nuts. I am afraid as soon as I unscrew the box, those nuts will fall down and I will not be able to retrieve them nor put them back. There is no way I can reach those nuts from any side. Am I missing something? This is a mystery for me. Advise is greatly appreciated.

Were you able to figure this out? Sorry for the long hiatus! Most hulls have an opening to the back through one of the compartments. In the case of this boat the opening came from the console.

I know this is an old video but I took the same control box apart to fix the fast idle lever but now my shifter is stuck and won’t move at all any ideas?
@TheAmericanAngling4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a linkage is inverted somewhere. Likely need to pull it all back out and put it back together looking for the part that causes the problem. I'd think something is inverted OR something isn't seated properly.

what is the name of the control box you worked on? That's the one my johnson motor cables are attach to. Can you recommened a replacement control box that i can matched to my johnson motor J140tlcd

Any idea on cable I mite have on my boat for throttle. It's a 25hp Johnson outboard on an aluminum boat probably a 1978 or 79 motor. It shredded by motor. Is there a way to clamp back in. ? U can just pull out from motor back and forth. Throttle arm is loose and does nothing now.

Looks like a OMC control box

Which cable is the throttle and which one is the shifter linkage?
@TheAmericanAngling4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the outboard. On ours I found it by verifying what linkage it pulled on the engine.

What cable is what?

I have that same control. But the lever for the front is hard. What could it be? Thank
@TheAmericanAngling7 жыл бұрын
+Omar Omar If moving the lever forward is still my first though would be the throttle control on the motor itself is jammed or gummed up, otherwise it may be time to replace the cable.

is it possible to mount a joystick OMC control on the engine Yamaha 30cv
@TheAmericanAngling6 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest with you, I've never messed with a joystick control. OMC/BRP controls SHOULD work but I'd heavily recommend using the correct materials. I've ran into issues in the past by making due rather than making the full conversion.

Could the guy who posted this video kindly position the camera so there is a clear view of the control box and not the guy's shoulder?
@TheAmericanAngling7 жыл бұрын
New camera guy understands to look at the subject not the guy working on said subject.

How do you adjust both of the to the correct positions?
@TheAmericanAngling6 жыл бұрын
On the cables there are USUALLY nuts on each end, you can just turn that nut to adjust the position.

American Angling but how do I know if there set correctly? What rpm should I be at while the boat in the water.
@TheAmericanAngling6 жыл бұрын
+Steven Thorkelsen depends on the motor, your best bet would be to get model number from the block and call a dealer. My mercury is around 500rpm while the Evinrude likes 750.

this video had a ton of potential but the camera and sound were atrocious. I don't want to be super critical--I know its much harder than it looks (to make a video) but this one needed a dedicated camera man or do it on a bench so you can position camera somewhere other than right above your head. Thankx
@TheAmericanAngling6 жыл бұрын
Not wrong at all, if you look at some of the later stuff we bought a new camera jib for that reason.

As a freelance video and audio tech (ABC, NBC, ESPN etc,) I agree that the video has a major problem with camera positioning. But that could have been avoided by leaving the camera where it was and simply moving the talent a little out of harm's way. Also, taking a look at playback would have shown the problem and being a short video, could have easily have been re-shot. Other than that fatal blocking flaw, the video quality is quite adequate. However, I'm not sure what you find "atrocious" about clear, undistorted audio.
