Definitely worth it! Not many people can afford brand new mowers without incurring significant costs.
@Buckwsr3 ай бұрын
Yep. New mowers are just too expensive.

Worth it!!! But...Seemed like a good time to clean the pinion gear and clean and lube the axels and gears??? Would only take a few minutes. While your at it, do the rear too!!! :)

I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the wheel off.i was looking for a Center cap.it never occurred to me it was a hubcap.thamks
@normanjones80893 ай бұрын
Two small things. Should there be a thin coating of grease on the spindle before putting the new wheels back on, and could you use the hubcap that came off the front and put them on the rear where they were lost.

Better than spending 350.00 for a new mower

Good point!

You’d be a idiot to spend $350 on a push mower/self propelled, when they’re all over Facebook marketplace and offer up for like $100.
@randynicholsonsr5602 ай бұрын
did you grease the gears?

Just spent it and put the hubcaps on the back wheels. Mine...well worth it. I only paid $20.00 for it.

Yeah, 45$ is cheaper than a new mower. I’m getting ready to do the same thing.

After cutting 3 or 4 small lawns in our neighborhood with my TB130 Troy built for 8 years, I started to price the new electric models and one or two gas mowers, for a good electric your talking $600 to $800, and a gas one about $599, so besides a new blade every other year and oil change at the end of every season, I have not had any trouble. So I came back from Lowes and ordered my wheel set ( $25.99 for two) and a two pack of air filters $9.99 and a new spark plug, so I am ready to cut for another 8 years . That's if I don't fall over from a Heart attack in July or August. My wife would kill me if I did that!

Yes, after watching your generous video I will spend the $45 to do it myself. The treads as well as the plastic gears are worn out on my old wheels. Sincerely appreciated Sir, TY

I have a TB210 for almost 10 years now, I just paid 30 bucks for each wheels and if I can get another year or two out of the mower then it's all worth it.

Make the old ones work. Cutting some lines into the tire. Or retreading them. Buying new is only a time saver. My mower is very old I can’t see spending money on it.

I used a die grinder to cut new tread into my bald plastic tires... got me traction for 2 more seasons ( then the engine died ).

Have this mower and it's been great for the last 7 years. Need new tires all the way around and this helps to know that it's this easy to replace. Got to go order them now. The Amazon price is now up to $88 bucks but I'm on the hunt for a better price. Well worth it if I can find them for less - and worth it because it's a great motor/mower. Still going strong 7 years on. Good video. Appreciate it.
@Buckwsr2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the wheels aren't cheap. And the back wheels and front wheels are different, since the front wheels are the drive wheels. The back wheels are just along for the ride, so swapping them out is not quite as essential. Thank you for the note!
@TonyDeConcini2 жыл бұрын
@@Buckwsr I DID order them from an online vendor and the set of two was about $45 bucks. The back wheels were a little more expensive but not bad. The axle in the rear needs replaced too. The height adjuster broke off and that wasn't cheap for all the more that it is. Crazy prices. By the time it's all said and done I'll have about a third of what the whole mower cost. But if it goes another 7 years I'll be fine with that!! Besides at my age (75) next season I'll pay somebody else to do it. Gettin' too much for me in Summer heat. Anyway thanks !
@Buckwsr2 жыл бұрын
@@TonyDeConcini Yep. When the wheel height adjustment lever breaks off, you have to replace the whole axle. Been there, done that. But its better than buying a new machine, especially if you current one is still running strong. Thanks.

I don't know if it was worth $45 in parts + labor, but if the owner wants them, then it's all good. It'll probably make some difference that's noticeable. I might have put some bearing grease on the axle, but it'll be fine.

@stevemlejnek70735 ай бұрын
Since the inner plastic gearing is not worn, and with how expensive the replacement tires were, consider adding traction to the worn tires and keeping them for another repair someday. There are videos out there showing ways to add some traction back to those bald tires.
@MrCareerplanning Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. I know you mentioned they are not interchangeable, but if your mower was a REAR WHEEL DRIVE, would the wheels still be the same? I would imagine that they make the same wheel for FWD and RWD??? If you can answer this, I would greatly appreciate it. Mine is Rear Wheel Drive and everything I find says Front Wheel Drive.
@Buckwsr Жыл бұрын
Go online and search for parts with your mower model number (not engine model number). Or remove one of the wheels you want to replace and have it with you while search on Amazon for an identical replacement. Good luck.

No one seems to use grease on the gears in these videos?
Ай бұрын
The plastic is self lubricating and grease would just attract dirt and sand that would quickly grind down the plastic.. The spindle and hub on the other hand should get a light coat of grease.. On older mowers where grease is seen to have been leaking from the drive gear box, pulling that off and popping it open to add fresh grease is a good idea if you have the time..

With the bigger wheel in back, are the notches different tights from the front. Do you have to measure in order to see if it's level or are the notes still the same distance?

Buck, i was given the same mower 3 years ago and never pleased with the pull strength ...my wheels like yours are bald...does the new treads really improve the pull of the mower? Thanks for your Video!
@Buckwsr2 жыл бұрын
I can't promise that new wheels will bring a life-changing improvement, but it only makes sense that a good tread is going to have more grip and pull than bald tires. This mower is not mine, and the customer considered it worthwhile to install the new wheels.

My question is, if a guy (or girl) is physically capable of using a lawn mower, why would they hire someone to put replacement wheels on for them?
@Buckwsr Жыл бұрын
That's how I feel about push mowers with electric start. If you have the strength to actually mower the yard, you probably have the strength to pull a starter rope, right?
