Used this video for the 07 XLE. Worked great. For the XLE you don't need to take off thre hub cap. Also, highly reccomended the ball joint separator and possibly and axel pull kit. I did it with the pry bar but it sucked.

Hello, I see there is a part in the middle of the shaft which I believe is called a dampener. Your new part doesn't have it in the side by side comparison. Will that cause vibration issues since the old part had the dampener? If I was to source the job out to a shop, how many hours should it take them? Thanks

I wish my axle came out that easily, it took me a hour to finally get that axle spindle thing out. My hands are still cramping. Even with rust penetration spray. Lucky.

Observation: I noticed a Ratchet Wrench repeatedly used to "Break Free" fasteners. I was trained to ALWAYS use a Breaker Bar for "Breaking Free" a fastener. Never a Ratchet Wrench. Too much torque and the Ratchet Mechanism would fail. Breaker Bars are Robust and Bulletproof. I broke my 1971 Craftsman Ratchet Wrench in the mid-80's. I was attempting to remove a "frozen" fastener. Disassembly and Inspection revealed two broken teeth on the main ratchet gear. SEARS was willing to replace the Wrench for free. I wanted a new/replacement main ratchet gear. My Wrench remains broken. But, I do have a nice collection of Breaker Bars.

I noticed that the rotor looked new also and did you notice that the brake caliper is on the opposite side and also did you notice that wheel well is clean before and then at the end, the wheel well has what appears to be white paint splatter on it? Also when the camera zooms in at the lug nuts at the end, you can see clearly that the axle nut and the axle shaft threads are rusty.

You don't need to put back automatic transmission fluid (ATF) ? I just did mine and all the fluid squirted out.

I wish I had that lift. The boot closest to the transmission came off. so I have most of the axle out. It will not pry out for anything. I tried a slide hammer w/ claws...it's really just that snap ring keeping it in there on the driver's side? I'm going to put the other side on stands and have someone rotate the passenger wheel while I give it a few good slams w/ the slide hammer. Anything else I can do?

On the driver's side does the snap ring need to be in any particular orientation when installing or removing? I watched a mechanic really struggle with this job. I tried it myself and destroyed the CV axle. When trying to remove the CV axle out of the transmission I pulled the joints inside the boot apart from trying to pull it out since prying it out wouldn't work. Looks easy on video but sometimes there's problems when you try to do it yourself.

@ 7:00 what is the rubber thing between the two boots on the old axle? The new axle doesnt have that rubber cylinder in the center. What is that and why doesnt thhe new one have it?

I don't know why the new one does not have it..or why or it was not removed from the old one and put onto the new axle...but the parts is a bushing or light donut to balance drive shaft...

The nuts look different on my 04 camry and the 30mm doesnt go on like its a size or two too small. ??? i have a 30mm deep 12pt. edit: needed a 32 mm deep 12pt. not sure why but thats why if you look up you see multiple different answers.

Why does everyone use those extralong breaker bars in 1/2" size such as this one shown? I used to have 18" breaker bars for such job but they kept snapping at the swivel part. I got hurt once when the pieces went flying. I have since gone to 3/4" breaker bars for losing the axle nuts. ITs safer for myself.

Pretty easy, yu don't actuality need to hammer it in all yu need to do is jigg it back and forth until yu feel it lock into place.
