This video shows you how to install an exhaust manifold catalytic converter assembly on your 2011-2016 Hyundai Elantra. This vehicle uses an integrated exhaust manifold and catalytic converter assembly. That means you can replace the manifold, or the catalyst, without needing any cutting or welding.
This repair was done on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS 1.8L Sedan 4-Door FWD and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

Can confirm this works on a 2013 Hyundai Veloster Base (Non-Turbo). However the manifold/catalytic converter is a little different, the cat being too big to fit down even when pulling the engine forward. So pulling the CV axle out of the hub and pushing it forward and down made plenty of room for the manifold/cat to come down. Other than the cat being a little bigger they are pretty much identical. Great video.

Beautiful video. Excellent explanations. Now that I know what is involved, I can safely say I will be paying somebody to do it. But, if I had to, I can tell that I would want a lift. If I didn't have that, I can see it being extremely frustrating(probably would be anyway. but maybe less so.) Thank you for the video and best wishes to you.

For anyone that has a 2017-19 elantra, you dont have to move you engine forward by lossening the bottom engine strut mount. All you need to do is have enough "comfortable" clearance under your car. I just did mine today, and it was a challenge but i was able to get everything out. Now, i run a shop so i had the clearance since im able to stand under my car. If you dont have that, then put your car on some ramps. That should be enough. Anyways, here are the steps. Unbolt the 2nd cat from the flex pipe. Then, unbolt the 5 Manifold bolts. Next, unbolt the brackets that hold the manifold. It sits at the bottom. One bolt holds the manifold (14mm). For that one, you have to climb into your engine bay, and reach down with your impact to break the bolt torq. Doing it by hand is nearly impossible since theres not much room and its torqued to 35-45lbs and its most likely rusted. The other bolt is bolted in the engine block (10mm). You gotta do some odd arm postions to get to it but its possible. Youll need an angle racthet for that one. if not, a hand tool, but be prepared to use all your strength since the angle is in a odd spot. Now. Since your mainfold is loose and the bracket is free, youll need to wiggle the manifold off the engine block bolts. Once it drops, twist it to the left so that the flex pipe can slide half way thru the opening under the car. Keep moving it around so that you have access to the bolts for your impact gun. I belive the correct size is 19mm socket. Its weird, the bolt is really 18mm socket but it doesnt fit properly. 19 works, tho its 3⁰ loose. Once the bolts are off, you have to twist the manifold different directions to pull of the flex pipe. The 2nd catalytic convertor may be in the way a bit, just wiggle till its free. Finally, once the flex pipe is off, you can now slide the manifold thru the opening. Again, some twist and turns. but its very possible. I may post on my channel exactly how i was able to do it. So if you are curious and slightly confused, just watch my video. Ill have another video on installation of the new parts!

I have a 2016 that has been throwing the the P0240 Code for some time. This video has been really helpful. I'm weighing whether or not to replace the manifold (i.e. front) converter. I'm curious, could you guys (or another viewer) explain when it may be necessary to replace the secondary (i.e. rear) converter on the same generation car? Do you guys have videos showing replacing a secondary converter, or one that is part of the exhaust line? Thanks, great work!

So is it not possible to do this from just a jackstand clearance? That seems like almost 3ft of extensions. I can manage the manifold bolts but the exhaust bolts are a different story. Just getting downstream O2 sensor off took PBlaster and about 30mins of turning and an impact gun. These exhaust bolts are going to be a nightmare as I have nothing to heat them up with.

The bolt that connects the converter to the flex pipe on mine is not 17mm! I’m stuck lol

Voy hacer el mio pero el catalizador q compre tiene hoyo para valvula egr alguien sabe donde puedo conseguir la placa para eliminar ese hoyo donde va la valvula erg? Y si el catalozador puede salir por arriba o solo sale por abajo
