Should you bleed all 4 even if only replacing one caliper? I see conflicting answers so to be safe I just bled all 4 of mine. It allowed me to do sort of a mini flush too even though my fluid wasn't that dirty. Doesn't take that much longer with another person helping. I tried those one man setups before but the hose to valve connection always leaks air and I've never had luck sealing it well. I'm sure grease or something packed around would work but asking another person to help is fast and easy.

What can you use in place of caliper grease?

What about the ABS system? Does that play a roll in bleeding the caliper?

Great Video, Thanks! 2 “?’s”… You used Thread Locker on the Caliper Bracket Bolts. Obviously, I understand why, but for years I’ve always used Copper Anti-Seize on all of my brake hardware w/o any issues. So, does it make a difference either way? Clearly, the last thing you want is to have your brake components come loose, but I’ve never had that happen. BUT… what has happened (mult. times over the years) is one or more bolts gets seized & then snaps or breaks in the middle of a “simple” brake job. Obvi, all brake components & hardware are constantly subjected to abuse. Whether it’s repeated temp. changes (getting super hot & then cooled) or exposure to the elements (rain, snow, mud, salt, chemicals etc.). I just figure that w/ all the times over the life of the vehicle, that I’m gonna have to disassemble my brake components, whether it’s for the brakes, shocks, hub, CV joint, etc.; I might as well make the job easier on myself + reduce the chance of breaking any hardware while I’m at it. Oh & my 2nd “?”… Why is it that most (if not all) Brake Calipers have 2 Different looking Guide Pins (Sliders), 1 with a Rubber Ring/Boot on the end of it & 1 without?

@9:01 As you can see, 1 lug nut looks diff from the others… If you don’t know, that’s b/c most factory lug nuts are cheap & have a non-ferrous cap to keep the outside from rusting. BUT… what inevitably always happens is the steel lug nut underneath DOES rust from moisture getting trapped inside, which causes the outer cap to swell & puff out. This can be a problem if you end up getting a flat while on the road & all you have is the jack & “tire iron” that came w/ the car; b/c the tire iron may not fit over a swollen lug nut cap or worse, you manage to jam it onto the swollen cap, but then can’t get the lug nut off/out of the socket. In the video, you can see that 4 out of 5 of the factory lug nuts had that problem & they ended up just cutting the cap off of the steel lug nut… which will work fine, but just keep in mind that now all the ones w/ the cap removed are about 1mm smaller in size (i.e. you’re 19mm / 3/4” lug nuts are now 18mm, so a 3/4” socket is too big & an 11/16” socket is too small) Bottom Line: Save yourself the trouble/hassle & just invest $40 into getting a quality set of solid chrome lug nuts. You’ll thank me later.

I did everything the same way in this video and still spongy pedal. So I changed rear wheel cylinders and front passenger hose from new caliper. Same spongy pedal. Changed master cylinder then bled all 4 furthest from master cylinder first still not a firm pedal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure you've fixed this by now, but for those coming later, a spongy brake pedal usually means you have air in the brake system. Check all of your fittings for leaks and bleed the system of air again. You may need to repeat the process several times.
