Attempted on a 2014 Camry SE passenger side. I was good right until about 6:45. I applied to much pressure and the hole metal rod fell somewhere, I'm still looking for it. Then around 10:20, I put that little hex key in but it didn't hold the piece on inside. Since I tried doing this solo, I figured I'd get some duct tape to try and hold it in place...then I let the door close. I figured maybe I could reopen it by pulling on either the green or white cables, but when pulling them, one of them snapped! Not sure what that was but I'm sure I'll have to put that back wherever it attaches. For now I'm going to try and get a retractable mirror to find that little metal rod and call a friend to hold that piece in place while I insert the new handle. Good video, but the job is a bit tougher than it looks. Oh well, gotta learn somehow!

Just wanted to mention the door handle design appears almost identical to 2006-2012 Toyota Yaris (US models) and the mechanisms are quite similar. Thank you 1A for posting this to help me out.

1:28 the correct way to remove those clips is to push the center pin in, it will pop in about 1/8 of an inch and then the whole thing can be pulled out. To reinstall it, position the pin so it is protruding outward, and then pop the whole thing back into the hole.

Footnote: care must be taken to ensure the door unlock rod is properly aligned during reassembly. It can slip downward inside the door after it is removed from the inner side of the door handle and not make proper contact to the door latch upon reassembly. The top of the rod end can be popped back in-place in the inner door handle without the bottom of the rod performing the unlock action on the doorlatch.

Lexus RX350 handle is pretty stuck after removing the lock. Actually it came out by accident the other day, we put it back without realizing it might be broken and now it is not secured in place and doesn't work on door open. I will try to slide it out again tomorrow and inspect. I will make sure the rod connection is good for the handle and actuator.

help, i have removed everything but i only now need to remove the door handle left. and its stuck in the opposite side of the lock, its stuck in the plastic mount on the inside of the door, i cant slide it back and out. please help, will donate if you have advice! thanks!! i can see everything but cant figure out why its stuck , its only the handle and plastic on the inside of the car door left now

First, ensure that the inner plastic door handle is still secured inside the door. Next, ensure the plastic clip is removed from the rod. Next, ensure the lock cylinder is removed and you have access to the rod through the hole in the side door. Using a drift (I used a 6" 3/8 extension) and a mallet, gently pop the rod from the inner door handle.

What a JOKE! You can skip all the UNNECESSARY steps and go 7:30 of this video. Only the one side door screw is necessary,.... no need to take off the door panel. Should only take 5 minutes.
