So does that light only turn on when u lock and unlock your car?

It should turn on the moment your car lights are on. When your taillights are on (the position of the light switch between off and full headlight) and when your headlights are on (during night time driving)

This a lot of work just to replace a small bulb, it didn’t use to be this way on the older models.

It's Silly you need to take the car apart 😢 For one Small light..I Have the Same on my 17 SantaFE..That small side will stay out until I need to replace the headlights..Yes the older car were easy and fun to Work on 😅

Can you put T10 parking bulb on a 2012 elantra?

I don't believe that would work. The base of a T10 bulb is different from the 168 bulb that you need for the 2012 Elantra for the front parking light bulb.
