In this video I show you how to replace the front struts on a 2010 Dodge Challenger SE and what tools you will need to complete the repair.

God loves you. Great video! Having said that, as a professional mechanic please put something under the car even if it’s just the wheel. If that jack fails while it’s holding the car up or something bumps the car / you get too aggressive tightening / loosening a bolt/ nut the car will fall and could either maim or kill you. I’ve had a coworker die by being crushed by his truck while he was working on it at his home. He knew better than to rely on his floor jack. It was an expensive jack but for what ever reason it failed and the only thing there to catch the truck was him. Love your video, keep up the great work but please be safer bud so you can keep informing people! PS I noticed you wearing gloves so I know your safety conscious!

Jack stands, please! You should also support the knuckle assembly with a floor jack to keep the upper ball joint from knocking the heck out of you when it releases.

Oh see? Now I see how you isolate the strut shaft with the strut mount assembly nut (should have slowed down there, wanted to see how you did that in detail) You have that nice deep angled closed wrench on the nut and you use a second socket for the shaft. I failed on the disassembly tonight due to that, lol! Well, at least one new upper control arm is in.

I reckon I should have slowed down for that. I've done that on so many other strut/shock videos I've made on the BMW, Crown Vic and Neon, I forget some people might not have watched those other videos first. Yep, you can either hold the nut and tighten the shaft or you can hold the shaft and loosen the nut. Either way works. Good luck!

My dad said it seems to drive just fine as is, but he will be getting an alignment in the spring when he puts the summer tires back on. He's not too concerned about the alignment with the winter tires mounted.

Rule of thumb is you should get a alignment after replacing them but not necessarily necessary

its easier to just buy new struts that are already compressed and assembled. only professionals should be compressing them springs with another person present incase something bad happens. never do that alone, they call them widowmakers for a reason... if your doing this on your own and arent a certified mechanic, DO NOT DO IT. buy new struts that are already compressed, take old ones out and put new ones in. easier, faster and most of all SAFER. the pressure under those springs will kill you

its not an rt (5.7l v8) nor is it a hellcat (6.2l v8 w/supercharger) its an se wich is 3.5l v6 for first gens (2009) and 3.6l v6 on newer gens. besides the emblems stating rt or the famous hellcat emblem placed on grill/fenders you can also tell by the rim size. se being 17" rt being 20" with 8" width and hellcats having 20" aswell but width of 9.5" more width for better traction from more horsepower, just common sense things that any knowledgeable car person with half a brain would know. they are all really easily identified from eachother. you know when someone asks if a car is a v8 or some other silly question that right there tells ya they know nothing about vehicles when there is so many differences that easily tell you what a car has under the hood.
