For anyone having a problem pushing the tabs on the bottom adjuster to remove, I’ve got a super simple fix. Use a 14mm socket and push it over the plastic adjuster. It will push the two tabs in and allow you to pull the assembly right out.

Thanks for the video it was great and really helped. one tip I would add is when trying to pinch the clip in the back rear assembly. I could not pinch the clips in order to remove the clip. I used a 10 mm socket which fit snugly over the clip assembly. By rocking the socket from side to side I was able to release the tabs to remove the headlight assembly.

Great video. I wouldn't put the old headlights on that aren't clear on a newer truck. Those headlights stopped production in 2002. 2003 - 2004 use a clear housing. More clarity when lights are on.

😆 u cut away from the only part I needed to see after finally finding a. video. My clips are rusted but don't know how to take them off. As I went back & finished watching learned what I needed to know. 2 clips were missing & mounts were busted. Was worried I might break something but was already broke. Hello new headlights. U guys are awesome. Thank you very much.

Thanks for the informative video. Identifying the connection points and locks was very helpful. I trouble getting my fingers on the lock tabs so I slid a short 1/2" PVC pipe nipple about over the adjustment body. The inside diameter fits snugly and compresses the locking tabs as you slide it on. Once in position, the light pops out easily.

If you're replacing the whole assembly like in the video, keep in mind that the tabs can be destroyed. I used a wood chisel and hammer to just cut them off. (It did require removing the battery on each side, and the case on one, but it was about the only way I could proceed since none of the other tricks worked for me.) Thanks so much for this video. I didn't even know where to start!

Rather, use the old horizontal and vertical adjustments on your truck and remove the new controls from the new headlights. Takes a "TON" of work and works great. And, you only have to remove ONE clip. Just did mine and was a game changer. Thanks for the inspiration!

My God were those bottom clips hard to get off the old assembly! I have some of the bloodiest knuckles around, and after an hour and a half, done! I tried the 10 mm socket that Daniel Richards suggested, mine were much bigger. Naveen Narayan had a good idea, and it did make it easier, but still a PITA. Also, I tried to bust the clips off as PJS said, but couldn't get to the outside clip. I will say that the new assembly went on like a charm. Now just need to aim the headlights (since I loosened the bottom clips to the point of coming apart, I couldn't measure the length of the screw as mentioned in the video).

Found out best way to remove was to remove both clips drivers side then to turn adjustment screw until released from holder then remove headlight. Once light was removed it was way easier to press the two plastic pieces together,

I replaced my original housing without ever watching a video, fortunately I was able to fumble my way through the disassembly. But once I had lights adjusted I realized that the light housings themselves were not evenly in place, it wasn't an issue til I started pulling a travel trailer, now I had to disassemble the whole mess again and because of a TBI in Iraq my memory doesn't work like it used to, I played with those darned clips for about 45 minutes before I decided to live them up, wait a couple minutes, then just jerk them straight up with pliers, worked great. Now my question is this? How do I measure the correct distance on the adjustment screws for the initial install? It's been 3 years since I changed them and I don't have the old lights, any suggestions?

At night, pull up to a wall or fence (something with full slats, not chain-link). GO gently until your front end touches, then get out and mark the position on the wall/fence where your headlights are. Make sure the parking lot or whatever you're on is flat. Now, pull 25' away from the wall. Turn on your headlights (low beam) and adjust them so that the beams are touching the spots you marked on the wall/fence.

I also have a Chevy Malibu that I can take and change out BOTH assemblies in the time it takes to get two of the three clips out on just ONE of these assemblies on this F-250. Another one of Fords "better ideas" The people who design these cars and trucks NEVER think about the ones who have to work on them even their own mechanics !!!!!!!!

The passenger side right clip closest to the engine was a pain. I flattened the top of the clip somewhat which then gave me the ability to get to the locking clips and pop them out. I put the light in to test fit and the outside top doesn't go far enough in to see the clip point. AND. I can't take the light back out as the bottom clip has popped in place! Why did they recess the phillips so you need a 90% screwdriver? Ford dealer always closed when I'm off work so I went to auto zone and got clips that looked right. Of course they don't fit. Why didn't the stupid light assembly come with clips OMG. What an awful DIY project.

This video, and the parts are excellent, and packed well. One thing that is important is that you should compare the adjuster screws and make sure they are the same length as with the original headlights- as shipped, the adjusters are run all the way out, and you can't grab the screw to to adjust (as the plastic adjuster nut is out further than the screw, and the screw turns with the nut) after you install the headlights. I had to pull them back out, and those tabs are in a terrible spot to try and pinch. the socket trick to pinch or pvc pipe did not work for me as the aged plastic is too stiff. I had to cut the originals with a long chisel. Fortunately a good tug separates the ball head screw from the socket on the new ones so I didn't ruin the new lights. I wrench a great deal, but this was a formidable, frustrating, and humbling job. At least the outcome carries a great deal of joy, because the difference is so noticeable.

A easy way to take care of the bottom adjuster that clips in (the one almost impossible to get loose) is just use the adjuster screw to screw it completely out and leave the original adjuster in. Remove the new adjuster from your new light. Then just put the new screw on the light into the old adjuster. Took about 5 minutes to change the second one and never cussed once.

Assuming your new lights have the plastic wings that squeeze together so "easily", just bust the old wings off with a screwdriver. They are a PITA to squeeze if they are old. Moxley has it right. I also found that the metal clips are best removed by "semi-permanently" bending them away from their slots so they cant reach the slots and then lifting them out. They can be easily re-shapened for use with the new lights so that they can reach the slots. I also recommend using silicone spray on everything that needs to slide into place; the metal clips, the plastic wings, the wiring plug at the back of the light itself.
