How did you disconnect the LCD cable? The little black plastic broke off of mine.

Just gently pry the connector

I didn't have to remove anything but the screen bezel and the four screws at the bottom. Why did you have to take the back off and the heat sink?

Don't suppose you know the model number of this laptop. Did a 30 > 40 pin non touch to touch screen upgrade but the touchscreen didn't work. (image is fine.) so thinking I need the touchscreen bios.

@davewebster4246 It is not a BIOS issue. You need the correct cable for the touch screen work. Even though the 40 pin cables look the same, the pin maps of the cables are different.

@@computergeeksrepair I can only find one MB board type. I could do with a serial number from a touch model to put in the lenovo parts finder to confirm. But pretty certain its either bios locked or my cable or screen are faulty.

Why is it necessary to remove the entire display/cover to replace the LCD? Seems like a little bit too much work if you have adequate workspace.

You will see why when you try to replace the LCD without removing it from the main body. 😆
