What temperature do you use to desoldering the original chip?

it depends on the hot air station. you need to know your hot air station to understand the different soldering pastes and their temperatures.

I am very grateful, sorry to be annoying, but just the last question, when you remove the ic from the screen with the grinder, how do you know that you have reached the end and there is no more to polish?

@@yamasmsh that’s ok, you can ask anything. Regarding the chip layers, as you can see in the video I didn’t edit the part where I grind the chip so you can know where to stop. Basically when you start to see the soldering pads in a bronze(copper color) then you know that you’ve reached the pads and start grinding slowly.

I watched this to help me repair my phone. I was happy replacing the screen but there is no way any normal person could or should attempt the chip bit. Like rocket science, need specialist equipment, fluids, various metals and of course expertise. You probably need to slow the film down and talk us through the various stages of this. Great job though.

Not alone. Before you power on the device with new screen installed you have to transfer the Face ID and speaker flex and then you turn on the phone. Just be sure your aftermarket screen supports True Tone!!!

Hey, i love the videos u do! And this one was helpful. But I have a question, I buyed an Incell screen for iphone 12 and I want to put the original IC chip into the new screen. Does that work on incell screens? The fake chip on the new screen is just tapped down so i was able to just remove the chip and the contacts were exposed where the chip should go. And how much degress do i need to warm the chip to with hot air gun? 330 degress? will the tranfered chip make the screen work better? will the quality get better?

@@phonerepair09 Hi, thanks you for the support. I have no idea about the screen brand that you are talking about, I buy my screens from a local parts store. As far as I know, if the cover of the chip came off easily, then it’s not a chip but a cover for the electronic components and that means the screen is very low quality. No, the screen quality is not gonna get better after the chip transplant, it’s only to remove the important display message in the settings.

@@phonerepair09 the chip is soldered on the touch screen flex cable and not the screen it self. I always replace try to replace the screens with original ones, and if only replacing the touch, I try to find the highest quality on the market. Regarding your other questions on where to buy, as I said I get my parts from a local distributor. It takes a long time for the parts to arrive from other countries.

Hi, what do you mean by in-cell screen? As for the drilling techniques, it’s because when heating the flex cable you can damage the layers of the flex cable it self and it can bent the flex which leads to a very high chance for the new chip to to be soldered evenly.

Yesterday i was about to do training on a 11 and the supposed chip was only a bracket covering a totally different electrical system. It wasn’t a chip, so, I believe that was a incell screen. It was very odd. That’s what lead me into your video. About the drilling: but u do that on the new screen or on the old one which you are taking the good chip from? I believe it’s on the new screen, because you need to have the original chip from the old screen on good condition. Thx for answering.

@@nepereiralage thanks for the explanation. So yes if the screen is very Chinese 😅 then it’s impossible to solder the old chip on it. But there is better quality screens that are able to be soldered on the old chip. As for the video, yes I drill the chip on the new screen and remove the chip from the old screen which contains the information of the True Tone.

Hi, Thanks for this video. So I tried out the drilingl methode to pull out the ic chip of the new screen but failed. I am quite confused it seems to be that the layers of the chip in the video doesn't match up with what I saw during the drilling. its like there are some filters/capacitors inside the chip ??

Hello, yes this chip actually has 4 chips inside if I am not wrong. 2 controller chips and 2 EEPROM chips. if the layers don't match then it could be that the chip you have is some kind of none original chip. All the original chips that I drill are the same 100%.

If your aftermarket display supports True Tone then you only have to swap the Face ID and speaker flex first then transplant the touch ic chip and lastly power on your phone. If you just install the new screen without original Face ID speaker flex then it with lose the True Tone feature.

The True Tone should disappear. This operation is only to remove the important display message. To restore the True Tone you need a programmer that as far as I know doesn’t exist yet.
