This video shows you how to install a lower ball joint on your 1994-2004 Chevrolet S10. Car and truck suspensions combine a number of moving parts for safe and stable handling. The ball joint is the crucial moving component that ties those parts together. The ball-in-socket joint can wear out and loosen over time. Or, the rubber protective boot can tear, allowing contaminants to seize the joint. Bad ball joints are a common failure point on vehicle inspections because they lead to unsafe driving conditions. Fortunately, they are relatively easy to replace with the right know-how.

Glad I watched this because I couldn't get the clamp to fit on my 99 S10. Never occurred to me to cut the threads off and to use my impact drill. Just a carpenter that enjoys doing basically anything, including mechanic work. Thank you.

They don’t go in straight at all, I’m just going to buy control arms next time 😂. I had to hammer it straight every couple turns so I’m sure it won’t last long

I have a question so I need to replace my two front ball joints, so do I order a front upper and front lower for both sides?

Yes, in total you will need 2 upper and 2 lower ball joints. You will also need a ball joint pickle fork which really helps break loose a stubborn joint and a ball joint press to fit the lower back into place

im having a terrible squeak when i get in and out or press up and down on my blazer,the boot is ripped i know that much,handles corners terrible,,would it be the ball joint squeaking or the lower control arm bushings,what do you expect,its annoying and sounds ghettofied disgrace lol your tip would help alot i hate to replace ball joint and it still squeak.driving down the road it kinda wanders with the grooves and cracks in the roads.tie rods ? my lower control arms are super clean ,not sure about bushings. i need help,,,thanks

I noticed that you started out with the old lower control arm, but final assembly is with a brand new arm. What happened?

The Chevy S10 / GMC Sonoma is known for having lower control arm rust issues it is generally recommended if you are replacing the ball joint to just skip the pressing and get a whole new control arm with it as to help prevent dangerous rot in the future.

don't you know it's dangerous to use a shitty chrome socket on an impact wrench
