Yes you can do it yourself. Just get everything out of your way and make sure not to over tighten the bolts into the head (snap)

Thanks a ton for the video. My daughter's car is leaking from there. Also, when she comes to a stop, her heat stops working and when she takes off again the heat comes back. Do you suppose this will stop that?

Can anyone tell me what that orange peice right behind that comes on top of the housing is not attached to the housing but the engine? I’m having a leaking problem right from there it doesn’t look like the housing but it’s flowing freely and I have an empty hole there figured something looked like it belongs there and it would appear I’m right thank you in advance !

That's an old bomb, my Mazda 6 is a sky active diesel 2.2 engine thermostat easily accessible, rule of thumb don't pay more than $30 for a thermostat whether you are doing job for yourself or shop
