POOR DESIGN TBH PLASTIC NEXT TO THE HOTTEST PART OF THE ENGINE. On my camry and most cars its located near the bottom of the left or right of the bumper. looks like planned obsolescence. or aa way to get you to pay the dealer and order there parts. seen the same exact issure on my freinds car should be recalled. and freely replaced.

That hole is right next to the turbo, btw. It gets very hot no matter the climate. For anyone wondering, this also suits the A250. I would also recommend removing the top of the airbox (t20 torx, do not have to be fully removed) remove the air filter and vacuum out the bits of plastic that have accumulated. If you pop the ecu from the front of the airbox you can blow the plastic out the bottom quite easily. Replace the filter if it's dirty.

It's melted, very bad design by Mercedes-Benz put aluminum ,and heat resistant tape on that spot it will happen again.,mercedes-benz should used heat resistant materials this is my third one in 5 months, and it sucks 😡😤🤬

Yeah just had this happen to me last night. It's the heat from outside, combined with the engine heat and the turbo heat. I'm in texas and we're doing 100 degree temps

OMG.. I looked in my car after changing oil and I had a huge hole in mine too, of course, no one has the replacement local, so I took it off and duct taped it all till it comes next week. I could not believe how big the hole was! Hopefully the duct tape will not start a fire and melt. I googled it and mechanics say it is okay to duct tape! Quick fix till next week. Thank you for your video and the model number! Ordered from Amazon for less than 70 dollars!

I live in Phoenix AZ, and I have Exactly the same hole in mine that I discovered! I assumed its from the heat. The plastic just crumbled away too. Thank you so much for your video, I will now go and replace mine since the part arrived. I was also recommended to apply heat reflective aluminum auto tape on the new part in that specific area where the hole is, because it will happen again, especially in hot climate like here in AZ . i just noticed a hole in mine. Prior, I seen a major performance change in my engine. Thought it was the trans, but Mercedes told me the trans is fine. Hope this helps...

Mine looks exactly like this. I used two part fiberglass resin an stuck a flat piece of insulated exhaust wrap around the back of the new one.

I’m in Texas and have the same issue broke at same area I think it’s because of the heat in summer and cold winters temp fluctuates. But I am also going to have to replace my oil cooler. So I don’t know if it was because of this part ripping apart. A stich in time saves nine.

I'm in the UK and I noticed mine too, our temperatures are cold so it's definitely a poor quality plastic and the heat from engine/ turbo. I also have it on a service plan with Main Mercedes Dealer and they have not even picked this up on the checks 😮

Very useful info. Helped me install it on 2017 gla 250. Thanks It happens because, as someone else mentioned here, that plastic piece (must be very flaky plastic, it only cost $100 in Delray Beach dealer) is too close to the turbo intake (hot combustion air). Less to do with Arizona heat
