The sound is hilarious. Sounds like a bunch of mice at the beginning and then they end up in a tiny Nascar race.

* please give the link to purchase that "micro USB port" and also give specifications (tech spec sheets) of both the USB ports ( MINI and MICRO ) for comparison. I want to replace that mini usb port on my Arduino Nano. Thanks.

Not bad for using a soldering iron. Does it still work?

Yes, I also replaced the USB connector on my PS3 controller and some older mp3 player. :)

Solder Wick will significantly make de-soldering easier. It is Cheap on ebay as low as $0.74 Cents USD total price

at 6:10 what wire did you put there and what's the purpose ?
@xPIOLx6 жыл бұрын
The receptacle of USB-mini B is bigger than the Micro B, and in this board the GND signal was using the shield of connector to connect the GND signal to the resto of the board. At 5:00, you can see the GND pin isolated, with one small island. To fix that, I put a small jumper between the two legs pads of original Mini B shield.

You should try using a rework machine with a hot air gun on it just place your solder on the board heat the spot up and set it on.
@xPIOLx7 жыл бұрын
I tried show how to do it with solder iron. It is not the best option, but anyone can do it.
@AnthoBasc4 жыл бұрын
you could use some hot glue to reinforce the connector too.
@criticscooby3 жыл бұрын
by a heat gun that melts it on higher temperature that makes a tougher connection

Way outdated and don't want cables from all types on my desk. I am already thinking in swap Micro B for Type-C to keep only one cable at desk.

Ok. 1. Ever heard of tweezers? 2. Ever heard of hot glue? 3. Have you heard of 1 & 2?! Personally, I would have hot glued the underside of the USB port into place first (and yes your wires are ok but I would have soldered ontop of the connectors). Secondly, I would have To be sure it's in place, solder a blob onto the two side connectors first and then with tweezers hold it in place and hot press onto the side connectors, and with the glue in the middle. Boom.. no more movement. Then solder over the lot of the 5 connectors and remove with solder-remover and that would have left only the prongs soldered on. Done
