Love that you’d do this and show us. Got a new boat on order so hope I don’t need to do this for a looooooong time.

You should be good for awhile Steve! If you have a stabilizer bar that helps support the motor weight, you won't need to do this for at least a few years! Congrats on the new boat by the way.

Where did you buy the stronger pivot screws? Was there a part number for them?
@FHCOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Ordered them through Jones' trolling motor with the rest of the parts. But if you need the screws, they are Minn Kota Part # 2283411. Should run you about $0.55 each. Or you can always Google a 'Fortrex Rear Pivot Repair Kit" and you should bring up some results for an entire package.

It doesn’t look like you can change one arm and bushing at a time. How would you get the bushing on without raising the arm out of the lower support, is that possible?

There is movement, just enough to probably do one side at a time. I've had several people message me saying they did it, so I know it can be done. It just takes a little patience...but the good thing is that the repair should last years! Good luck!

I ended up just detaching the piston. Was very easy to do then the swing arm comes out easily. Took about 20 min to do it all. Thanks for the video!

So, how would you have gone about not deploying the spring? Only change one side at a time?
@FHCOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Eric Jones Exactly, you got it :)

You can use blue Loctite * NOT RED* as blue is designed for vibration and to be removed. Any chance you ever replaced the lock bar on the Fortrex? I have to replace a broken one on mine and didn't want to take a learning avenue.. :)

Sorry I missed this notification! I have not done that...at the moment, we are training my son to ride dirt bikes so I don't think I'm ready for that job hahaha.

Just did mine. While the trolling motor is stowed, make sure you remove the gas spring side screws and threaded pin from front side of gas spring. Then deploy TM over front. Remove TM as he shows and the pivot pin and all associated parts can be EASILY be removed and replaced. Make sure you order new teflon sleeves for the pivot pin. northlandmarine.com/products/minn-kota-7-16-nyliner-bearing-22800054 I cut some teflon tubing I had and used it. It worked but I'll soon insert the new OEM sleeves soon.
