If you noticed the neutral switch you took off was for a 14 bolt trans…the one you put back on was for a 20 bolt trans…..the mounting bolts for the switch go thru the reinforced metal holes not thru just a plastic slot….any torque placed on the one you used as a replacement will bend the plastic housing and lead to cracking it or breaking….that metal reinforced hole must seat onto the mounting holes on the trans.

Excellent video. I followed the instructions as advised and had no problems swapping the switch. I did have to break the old switch off the stud due to a rust and grime build up. It wouldn't pry off with screwdrivers. Once I got it off I had to sand the rust off the stud. I should have done this yrs ago because it now shifts like new. Thanks again.

Thanks for the vid! Just changed the NSS in my dad's 2003 ford Ranger was pretty easy other than getting the old one to slide off - live in New England (Rhode Island) good Ole salt belt. My son always enjoys crawling under the vehicles with mom to work on them

Good god my expedition wasnt cranking everything seemed fine so i decided to try it on neutral and it turned on right away heard on the webs that this switch could cause it to not go into park properly so now im here and realizing i must have not put it into park all the way myself cause it works fine now goes into park good and everything talkin bout driver error here lol

So I am trying this on my 04 explorer, and the middle bolt, which is 21mm on mine, won't bude, even after being soaked in penetrating fluid for over 24 hours. Am I missing something? The 8mm bolts onbthe side are even more rusted and come loose easily.

If mt truck has 12 pins and i use a 11 pin replacement OeM motorcraft (the only one ive found). Will it work? F150 1998 v8 4.6L 4x4

Any tricks to removing the old one from the transmission? The two bolts come off fine but the sensor will not. I'm able to tilt it and shift the linkage, thus shifting gears. Is the sensor separate from the metal plate connected to the shift linkage? I don't want to damage anything but it looks like someone here simply broke theirs off?

Try some form of penetration oil and let it soak for a while. The best I've ever used was kroil but it's not cheap.

My emergency break activated my neutral safety switch after I put my truck (ford150) in neutral, and it wouldn't start in park, only in neutral. But after I released the emergency break, it started in park again ! What in the heck would cause that if you know ??? And isn't this NS switch useless so to say ?

I have an 02 sport Trac that the reverse lights don't work on. I've already replaced the bulbs and the fuse. I was told this could also be the culprit but I'm a skeptical person. So could this be it?

1. Occasional no crank when in park - if you shift it to neutral will then crank 2. Same in reverse - will not crank in neutral 3. Sometimes can crank in D, 1 or 2 4. Some might not crank in P or N... occasionally.. depends how bad they are. If you have a constant no crank in P, it could just mean this switch needs loosening and an adjustment.

WRONG INSTALL AT 6:35 You did not place the bolt in the right reinforced hole, maybe wrong part or can you MOVE the metal reinforcement. What a BS job. Junk Yard Mechanic.
