Funny watching you guys. Many Z owners will watch and remember when we did ours.I did it like you guys are doing it to my Black Pearl I had in Early 90's and many Datsun Z since thru the years. I m building 2 now but stripped them down to bare shells lot easier to work on Nice clean painted parts. But remember those days rolling on the ground doing all that You more then likely need a new lower diff bushing at the front snout. And a "Taylor semi solid top diff snubber. Maybe a steam clean under carriage will make your lives , cleaner, and car healthier ( you can see stuff) All surface rust clean off best you can after power/ steam cleaning. And spray with "REFORMER" it a very very very good rust converter. That dries Batman black. And stops rust and looks bad ass. It's made by rustoleum but it's a proven damn good rust stop, converter.

We definitely need the front diff bushing. Got it on order! I'd love to strip one down to shell some day and start from scratch. Thanks for the advice! I'll look into the rust converter!

I think you need to change the front diff mount too. you can see the front of the diff moving quite a bit in that shot of you driving. I'm sure that's where the clunking sound is coming from.

We absolutely do. The bushings and strap are completely gone. The issue is we can't find a OEM replacement or a polly kit. Only option that left us was a solid mount in the front. Can't really do that because it will ruin the housing. We felt that would cost more and ruin it faster. It's on the list to be addressed over the winter and before the swaps done. This was just a quick fix to make it to the track as the diff was hitting the subframe on acceleration before. If you've got any OEM/polly replacement recommendations please let us know!

Steer rack bushing needs to always be replaced the factory rubber is like a rubber band. Japanese knows ALL about metal. But still used lots of natural compounds in their rubber back then. Steering column bushing Is keep NEW rubber so your rusts don't take the shock of steering. Rear diff has mustache bushings and best set up for the front bushing is called the Taylor Mount it's a semi solid mount. And again the factory rubber mount melts . So a new facter front mount with the Taylor upper mount "all good!
