Great demonstration!! I consider myself a pretty good home mechanic and this job is the one I avoid the most. Appreciate the way you highlight some of the trouble areas and things that are potential pitfalls. When adjusting the tension, it seems the two rear wheels would have to be done together since the other one might be creating the drag.

@@TwoFourSevenDIY, Your video gave me the confidence to properly inspect and adjust my emergency brake. At my next inspection, I'm going to take it apart and grease it. Thank you.

After my shoes fell apart on a brake job with my 08 STI, I needed a reference for getting everything back together. Seems like the exact same job I did with my 01 Forester back in the day, but it's good to have a video handy. This worked like a charm. Cheers!

Best video on this that I've seen. I blew mine up while replacing the wheel hub (forgot to release the parking brake first) now I gotta put the ebrake back together. I failed once today, but I'm thinking with what you show here I will give it another try. Thanks brother.

Thanks so much for this video, it's really helpful. Do you have a part number or link for the kit with the springs and other parts?
@TwoFourSevenDIY6 ай бұрын
I order from rockauto for parts like this. Just select your make, model, year, trim level, and then select the brake section. They will have different brands available ... I can't remember for sure but I think I used the Centric kit for this

Nice vid. Why did Subaru decide on this over engineered setup rather than a simple handbrake on the brake caliper?
@TwoFourSevenDIY Жыл бұрын
I mean, I guess you'd have to ask Subaru that. But it's not just Subaru, lots of Japanese vehicles use it, Hyundai and Toyota that I've worked on, I'm sure there are other manufacturers as well.

Bro mines sticking how do I adjust it lol
@TwoFourSevenDIY Жыл бұрын
What do you mean sticking? Like just started sticking out of the blue? If that's the case, adjusting them isn't the answer. You need to get the rotors off and take a look to see why they aren't releasing
