I have a 2014 jetta se 1.8 turbo. This got me through 85% of the way. The rest was pretty obvious. The differences being the air intake system, intercooler, and the sensors (sensors are in the coolant lines with a quick connect.) There were also a couple additional mounting bolts for the radiator itself, which is a different style. Great work with this video. It saved me a ton of time searching for what needed to come off.

This video was a lifesaver. The instructions are clear, well spoken and easy to understand. I’ve watched many KZbin videos on various auto repairs and many are very difficult to listen to and to understand and the camera work gives you motion sickness. This is not the case here. The camera work is outstanding and the speech is clear and easy to understand. This is an excellent video. There were some differences between my car and the car used in this video. My car has the 2.5 5-cylinder engine. With this engine, the fan assembly and the radiator come out the bottom of the car rather than the top as shown in this video. I found this out quite by accident when I was trying to figure out how to get the fan assembly up and out the top. Just when I had decided that I needed to remove the upper core support, the fan assembly slipped out of my hands and dropped right to the floor. Hmmm. Okay. So I got that out of the way and then lowered the radiator out the same way. The radiator was a little trickier because I had to work it between the lower core support and the A/C line. They both went back in much easier than they came out. This video really made this job much easier! Thank you!

For the other DIYers, do not put the body work back together in case you have a leak. It's annoying that to take that off again to fix something

Awesome resource. I would recommend letting the fan drop from the bottom if you have a lift. Much easier

Excellent video. The only thing I needed to have was a vacuum pump to ensure no airlock.

How different would the process be for replacing a 2014 TDI Jetta’s Radiator? It looks as though there’s a thicker (round) solid line on the top left that would be in the way if you tried to pull the radiator up and out. Would it just come out underneath like this one?

New technician here 👋! I was wondering, due to a guest having a bad left side upper mount. Can you replace all mounts with the radiator still on the vehicle or can i move the radiator just enough to slip the upper mounts off without having to drain coolant!? Edit: Awesome videos also, very helpful! Keep wrenching 🔧

Do I need the pressure system or can I directly put the coolant in after installing the new radiator

I have a 2014 tdi 2.0 it’s quite different. Be sure you know which radiator you need to replace. Taking bumper off was not necessary for the back radiator

This video does not apply to the 2011 Golf TDI trim level. The radiator is completely different for the location of the hose outlet and there is no temperature sensor installed into the radiator itself. There are also no support tabs at the bottom of my TDI radiator. Maybe even more differences, but I stopped watching to go look for another video that matches my vehicle. I wish this were the same as my TDI, because the thoroughness of this video is great.

FYI. This is not at all for all golfs or Jettas from the era described. Not even close. Anything after 2015 has the condense locked in the radiator, which requires much more disassembling. This is just wrong. The majority of this video is completely wrong after 2015.

If I don’t have the vacuum tool, what’s the process for making sure to get all the air out? Fill it, run it for a moment, then top it off and repeat ?
@Kurogane_57762 жыл бұрын
Yeahh pretty much, that’s what I did after replacing my radiator (‘12 VW Jetta SE 2.5) I topped off for the second time on the coolant and just keep an eye. You car may rumble for a bit here and there but after a while it readjusts itself and drives smoothly. If you accidentally release pressure for the AC refrigerant, same process, fill it up and watch the gage every now and then that it remains on green with enough pressure.

What’s the purpose of the bottom plastic piece? Mines is ripped could that be causing the radiator leak?

Why did you put the old radiator back in??
@cliffjumper19842 жыл бұрын
some aftermarket ones are less then 1/4" too thin, not allowing the front and upper plastic trim pieces go back on

Hi, my golf mk6 coolant radiator is minor leaking, thank you for your video. My question, if I only need to replace the radiator, must I take off many front parts? like headlight? front steel bumper core etc. it looks like need to take off most of front parts, in order to just take out the radiator? is it possible that just take out radiator from back (between fan and engine gap)? Thank you.
