My sensors started to go crazy. They would beep sporadically when backing up even though there were no obstacles in the way. So, they became a bit useless.
I tried turning it on and off again. It did not work.
I sprayed the hell out of it with WD-40 and that did not work.
It turned out that I had to replace one of the sensors to get them to tell me about obstacles when I was backing up.
I will show you how to replace your own Skoda's rear backup sensors when you tried the WD-40 oil trick to try to fix your sensor, but it did not work.
This works also on many other models of Skoda, Audi or VolksWagen cars.
Steps to replace the rear backup sensors:
1) unscrew the five screws on the bottom of the bumper
2) remove the plastic bumper by snapping it away
3) take out the sensors from the bumper
4) remove the clip from the sensor and detach the connector
5) clean the sensors and the bumper
6) replace any wiring if needed
7) check the sensors with multimeter and determine which one is broken - here is a link on a video how to do it - • Testing rear parking s...
8) buy your new parts (see part numbers below)
9) re-attach connectors to their sensors
10) snap the sensors back in their place inside the bumper
11) put the bumper back in the correct place
12) screw it back with the 5 bottom screws
Now you can enjoy your rear parking assistant again.
