When you removed the caliper slide pins from the old caliper, the pin with the missing rubber sleeve was on the bottom. The new caliper had it on the top where it is supposed to be. The pin with the rubber sleeve should be the trailing pin which is on top if the caliper is aft of the axle. When you installed the pins on the new caliper you put the pin with the sleeve on the bottom. It goes on the top when the caliper is aft of the axle.
