@@DIYtimeTRDdo the new Lexus/Toyota's require this registration step? I know that you can choose recalibration thru the instrument cluster then drive above a certain speed for like 10 minutes and the system recalibrates itself? Also, the new Altel tpms sensors can be cloned to match the existing sensors in your vehicle.

Thanks for the great video, but I can't help but feel angry about all the terrible gadgetry that inflicts wastes (of money and resources) and anxiety on the unsuspecting users! I just got my rear tyre replaced, costing £86 extra because of this tyre pressure sensor on a 2016 Toyota Auris. As the sensor is INSIDE the tyre, the ordinary DIY person would not be able to take it out anyway. With the software and tools required to register the sensors, I don't even feel comfortable to rotate the tyres! Absolutely awful!

Thanks for the video. I am having problems with ebay sensors, after using tech stream to enter the new ID its still showing no signal, n\a. I have read that the new sensors are shipped in a sleep mode (?), and you need the $300 tool to wake them up, is this true? is there any other way to wake them up? I tried waving a magnet at the stem, taking the core out and reinflating. At this point I am getting a used sensor that is "woke" so I know it will work. Can you help me understand more?

Just another thing to milk your pockets. If you check your tire pressure monthly and eyeball before you get in regularly, you don’t need a sensor.

You would have to eyeball tires every single time before driving. Once I got a nail and tire slowly deflated 100% overnight. Started the car and got a warning. If I didn't notice that I would destroy the tire and possibly the rim.

Is Techstream available for Windows 10 yet? Had to fire up a 20 year old laptop to get it to work last time lol.

Yes, if you have a 64-bit cable.

I felt good when you mentioned they won’t charge for mounting a new sensor. 👍

If you took a picture of the sensor ID, you can still do that. If not, TPMS tools can read sensor ID’s wirelessly.

$20 to replace the sensor? I guess you do not want to retire.

I connected a scanner to the ECU and it reads that sensor 2 is faulty but I don’t know which one is sensor 2? Is that a right front tyre or? All four tyre pressure is the same. Thanks

There is no way to tell which one is it. You can rotate tires however you want, but that wont change sensor IDs in the ECU. You can try the trick with deflating one tire at a time and checking which sensor ID has lowered pressure reading.

The key word here is “if you already changing your tires, it only takes 2 min to swap the sensor as well”. Would you be ok paying for 30min labor at $120/hour rate?
