Thanks for sharing. You don't often get such an easily accessible and low cost part to change. $1000 at the stealership!

I work on other people's cars; really good friends and family. I tell them that if I intermittently break a connector while repairing something; I'll replace it on their dime because everyone in know keeps their cars till they're older than dirt, I KNOW the plastic's going to be brittle and finicky at best. No one's had a problem with that.

I always find a way to zip tie the connector to keep it from disconnecting
@Pantherman19792 жыл бұрын
I see that I forgot to mention that. Yes, I don't just leave broken connectors to come apart again myself. I have a varied amount of methods that employ zip ties, shrink tubing and/or electrical tape. I give them the option for my fix, or to get another connector if they want to pay for it.

At lease that pump is in a convenient location... some of the VAG cars you have to remove the entire core support.

Pretty straight forward even for novice. Probably the easiest repair on that car except for selling it! ALL German iron has become third rate cars. Yeah years ago they were heralded as great cars reliable long lasting. Maybe so during an earlier era when all cars weren't as reliable as today's top brands. Personal experience showed the basic type I VW reliable with few issues other than annual valve adjustments, heater box rot / leaking exhaust, floor board rot where battery was stored. the later F.I. pancake engine used in sqback, fast back & vans; my 1978 van, annual push rod O rings, hydraulic valves but with each O ring job the rocker basic lash had to be reset. Seemed to consume clutch cables and rear torsion bar adjustments to set rear camber were a pain along with typical heater box exhaust rot. My 86 jetta strong engine, some finicky smog gizmos but rock solid Bosch F.I. every thing just fell apart on body. Plastic door handles, plastic wind shield trim interior, window cranks breaking (plastic). This was pretty typical for American cars of the era too the dodge pot metal window crank would break off routinely. Frankly our old 1972 MB 220 was one of the easiest cars I've ever worked on. Today's teutonic iron is too bling bling with electronic gizmos. The direction injection without inlet valve injection is a carbon nightmare, the TSI engine is a throw away maintenance hog as most German iron. The Asian designed auto always seems to have logic in design. No need to do (4) four hours labor to replace a poorly designed seal or cheap rubber component like euro iron. The Porsche 911 another example remove engine to replace a cheap sealed trans shaft bearing! Aftermarket repair kit an oil bathed bearing. Well Subaru also had their CVT $5.00 bearing fail which caused total trans removal. And who would design a secondary filter requiring trans removal yep Subaru. Guess its the sign of the times...I agree with Tony & scotty kilmer never buy a used German car. And sell your new one before 80k.

Nice job Angel 👍 I can bet those Mercedes’ parts can be expensive, and those cars have so much electronics that can go bad as they age.

Excellent! I was expecting a much more time consuming job based on the labor $$$ the dealership quoted.
