Patience and persistence. It’s admirable that you post your struggles for other to ppl learn from. So many videos of everything looking easy peasy but in real life rarely is. Way to keep it real.

I appreciate that feedback! I do try to keep it 💯 with how to stuff, but I know it's hard to sit and watch 30min videos. So trying to balance both.

Been there, done that. A few tips: 1. Put dielectric grease on the coils when reassembling, I assume you did that. 2. Put dielectric grease on the intake tube / throttle body joints. You will be able to assemble and disassemble the joints without messing with those crazy clamp screw. An easy tug will take the air box off and a shove to replace it. 3. Synchronize your injector bodies while you have your bike that far apart. 4. If you do that, lube the little rubber vacuum caps with dielectric grease (sparingly) so they can be easily removed and replaced in the future. 5. Run a loop of heavy thread or cord through the little vacuum cap clamps. This makes it easier to find and retrieve said clamps when you drop them. Bright colored thread or cord is the easiest to spot. Hemostats come in real handy.

That's some high-quality advice! Thanks!

I actually got some 4mm tube cut to about 40mm long and put a little brass plug in them and used them to replace the caps after I damaged one. I did one for the damaged one initially and then thought about how much better my hack was to the stock ones so I did the other 2. An alternate would be to take the little lengths of 4mm tube and screw m4 grub screws into the end with a little gasket silicone on them.

Appreciate you taking us along for the ride. This will be invaluable for other MT-09 owners who have the courage to wrench on their own machines. Now show us how to re-adjust the valves💀

Appreciate you stopping in for a look! The TB syncs were easy once you got to the TBs, but valve adjustment is gonna be another beast altogether. I'll be looking for some help on that one! 😆

Respect!!! Just did the throttle sync on mine. Damn it's a nightmare. Another tip... Cover your frame in tape so you don't scratch it from the tank mounts.

just watched the video today and found it very helpful I have a 2021 Tracer GT9. Had to remove the petrol tank completely to get at the hoses for the air box. also for anyone else there are clips to remove the leads from the coils. removed first plug and dropped in new plug when after a couple of minutes realised shop had given me wrong replacement plugs!!!!! WHAT A STRUGLE TO GET IT BACK OUT. Make sure you get the correct plugs NGK LMAR9A-9

I had to resort to using the rubber straps off of a bicycle rack to loop around the top of the coil packs to get enough leverage after loosening them by twisting. I would have never been able to get them out by hand.
@YantoSP Жыл бұрын
I was SO tempted to use stuff for better leverage, but luckily, I stopped long enough to listen to my own reasoning. Lol

Was looking around for easier methods. After servicing this particular model a couple of times, I've changed plugs approaching behind the front radiator. I access through the tank when I perform an air filter, spray out an injector, change and lube plugs, and sync the throttle body. Valve check is another issue. It's a pain to access screws and reseat air hoses with hose clamps, but now you can reassemble and align for future work. You get faster the more you work on it.

Definitely appreciate you doing the work and uploading. Looks tougher than I was expecting, but at least I got your video to help. Those coils look like a beast to get out. Hope mine isn’t as stuck. Thanks 🤙🏽

Nice job Yanto.. yes.. i had the same difficulties getting the coils off. I 100% agree. They put those on with zero dialectic grease. I also have 20+ k on my 2021 MT09SP. But i did my sparky change earlier then necessary just because i was in the area. I also had to by a socket for them weird plugs. 😊 good yob!

If you have larger hands and you need a little more room when removing or placing your sparkplugs. You can always remove the top two bolts of your radiator. It gives you a little bit more room to work with your tools. (But you don't have to ofcourse)

Hey there from russia ! thanks for the vid, i got only 6K km run on my tracer 9 , so it was usefull to get an idea of how air filter looks after ~20K miles use . It's presribed to be changed each 40K km interval in normal conditoins, which i really doubdted about but your vid prooved it could be real. As for spark plugs how much had they run and what condition of used ones ? They gotta be chanched each 20K km by maker manual. PS i will never forget spark plug change at my kawasaki ninja 12. That was a servival horror. And vavle gap ajustment can lead to a mental desease . :D

OEM plugs still looked good, but it was time to change after the mileage I put on the bike. And thanks for watching! I'm glad that the video could help you out!

Nice video, working on that bike is no easy job, thankfully you can go through many miles before the next service. Little advice from me, get a proper torque wrench. You're threading a steel sprak plung into a aluminium head, you really don't want to do that by feel it's easy to mess up the threads.
@YantoSP Жыл бұрын
Yea, I have a tq wrench. I just got lazy. But I'm positive I didn't over tq it. I'm usually pretty careful with it. But I do appreciate the heads up. And thanks for watching and commenting!
