How to replace steam wand on La Pavoni Domus Bar with Lelit MC742

Here Is my brief tutorial on how to replace original steam wand on La Pavoni Domus Bar DMB espresso machine with better ball joint steam wand Lelit MC742

Thank you so much for this video! My Pavoni Domus bar had no pre-drilled hole, so I needed to lay some wooden boards under it and drill the hole with a metal hole saw (I used 32mm). Thank to your video, I was able to replace the Steam Wand on my La Pavoni Domus Bar with the Lelit MC742 and steaming foam milk now is such a delightful experience, I just could not get it right before!

Hello, as I mentioned in 1:57 I needed to unscrew 4 nuts around the group head to free the boiler and lift it up. Than I just was able to unscrew the whole steam valve out from boiler. You can see it on the assembling process 3:12 is screwing the valve back on boiler. You can see mentioned 4 nuts at 3:25. Hope it helped. It is quite obvious, just turn valve couter clockwise and if you can't make the whole turn because of space, you have to make some space for it by lifting whole boiler

Hi Achito, don't know which wire connections you need to see. Currently I don't have any picture of wiring. I usually make photos when disassembling to know how to assemble all back and then I delete photos. But I think I haven't disconnected any wire during steam wand replacement. Try to search the internet for domus bar wiring (alternatively lelit pl42)

Hi, on my machine it was pre-prepared. There was small hole drilled but around this hole there was round steel plate which was holding on machine body only on 4 little points. Hence it could be torn off with pliers for example. I mean you catch the metal plate and move it/ stress it until you break the small joint.

Omg that's was my doubt all these years that I have my domus bar. If I could exchange with Lelits wand. Cause both machines look identical. But... Where can I find the wand to buy it?

Depends on where you live. You need to find shop with coffee machine parts in your country or pay quite a lot for shipping (or maybe it will not be so much. but I e.g. found it in Italy for i think 22€ but shipping was 15€. Best way to search is to use part number which is MC742.

Hey there Gondil, Firstly a massive thanks for the upload and info. Am seriously thinking about making the swap as even with a lot of care and concentration Its difficult to get fine enough bubbles from the manufacturers steam wand. My question really is, does the Lelit wand produce a significantly better milk emulsification? Many thanks

Algy B hi, hmm from my perspective, it is better. I would say that it is more user friendly, it is longer, there is a ball joint so you can better handle the positioning of wand and if you want, i think you can exchange the nozzle for different if you want (e.g. different shape, more holes etc.)

@@algyb1 It is however still matter of skill to make a good milk.. I'm still not certain and consistent in it. I would say that I made also quite good milk with original wand, so it is not impossible. But this wand I have now is more like matter of usableness as I mentioned in previous comment. And need to say that it is quite a shame that espresso machine of this price has such steam wand but that's for other discussion :)

@@Zensa06 The original one on this steam wand has product no. MC742-4. And when I search the internet I found that it is female M10x1. It is threading so any nozzle with such threading will be OK probably.

Hello I think it will fit. The component to which the steam wand is screwed on is the same as on mine machine based on component schemas. For Lelit the component is MC214 for LaPavoni it is ODMC214. @@Night_Thunder Hello, sorry, didn't notice that you wrote a comment. Can't load the first link but I think I know how it looks like, had a same question when I was searching for the steam wand. I recommend you to ask in lamacchinadelcaffe, they will probably know. But IMHO they will both fit. That mine looks like it has only outer threading look on 2:38 but you can see there that inside it has also inner threading. And that one from your first link has only inner threading so I think it will match.
