How to replace the automatic transmission shifter in Freightliner Cascadia 2010 and above.

Welcome Back to Let's talk DIESEL. We are about to learn the steps to remove and install the automatic transmission shifter in the older and newest Freightliner Cascadia. My 16 and up cascadias sometimes has that problem but it’s not that parts. This happens because the trans is cold. Wait for the truck to warm up all the way and you won’t have this problem. Works for my trucks

I have a 2016 frightliner cascadia it’s automatic some times times I can’t go in to drive or Reverse it’s just stack in N. There are no codes or check engine light and sometimes it works just fine please help

I think what is wrong with my truck. Question did you get check engine light and it say shift selector problem?

Check engine light will pop up with a transmission issue, but to know for sure it is the shifter, Diagnostic Link tool is need it. Thanks for watching.

Is the ABS light ON? Or did you check your shifter part number is the same as the old one?

I have same problem but my check engine light comes on and the abs and it stays on manual and it won’t let me put it back into automatic unless I completely turn it off

Yes, it should be the same procedure, just different torx sockets, T30 I think will do the job.

Hello! Do I need to replace a new shifter if the shifter button not working? It won’t shift to manual from auto while pushing the button.

Probably the transmission manual function is disabled, perhaps you could tell your technician with the DDL software to check it out, if that option is enable then you could check the shifter. Thanks for watching.

No, you do not need to update the TCM software after replacing the shifter.

After changing the part my dt12 don't down shift when slowing down. I have to come to a complete stop for it to switch into proper gear.

If that part doesn't work properly can it prevent the truck from starting?

Yes, your truck will NOT start if this part fails to switch properly between gears. Usually, the check engine light will turn ON.
