Hello, If I jack just the front 2 wheels off the ground, will I be able to spin the prop shaft. Or do all 4 wheels need to be off? 03 Td5 with CDL. Thanks in advance.

Nice video, I like how detailed. I purchased a 2004 D2 with 63k miles on it. I’m going through the safety checks, brakes and rotors, replaced brake lines with SS and flushed the brake fluid, now moving into drive shaft, I’ll replace it, no matter what as I don’t f around with safety but I don’t know what DS to buy. You say 800$ that sounds as a lot, can you comment why? There are some heavy duty options from Tom Woods or GBR that are 400-ish. I’m puzzled. I do not do much off-road to be honest so a HD is an overkill for me but 800$! ?

Thanks for the feedback! As a 20 year Land Rover mechanic, the only drive shaft I haven't seen fail prematurely is the OEM part made by GKN. It doesn't matter if you are off-roading or not, the aftermarket ones don't last.

Looks easy , I am installing a 4in terrafirma lift kit on my 04 D2 kit comes with a Tom wood drive shaft , the 4.6 has 143,000 still runs good but when engine fails I'm installing a 5.3 ls v8 for more reliability and access to parts anywhere, I often wonder why nobody ever took the engine & transmission from a lr3 to install in a D2 sense it a land rover also I also own a 07 lr3 both fun & interesting overland builds the D2 with front & rear solid axles makes very to lift and work on , hyena overland offers many products for D1 and D2

Jack, I got a 2001, and my front drive shaft has grease fittings. I had heard many times that none of them did, so I was surprised. I picked it up at the dealer new, so I quess there was at least one year that had them.

I don’t think it’s been well maintained ie no grease . The new drive shaft with the grease nipples now your thinking 👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺🍺a regular squirt gets the dirt 😁😁😁
