Is it preferred to use a 2Z or a 2RS bearing because of heat etc?

any way to remove bearings without the puller ?

I have tried but just came unstuck and ended up having to buy a new motor so I wouldn't recommend it and considering the cheapness of pullers I think they are money well spent even if you only use them once.

Thankyou for your reply. i decided to purchase a puller as there only £6 for a 6 inch that should be ok? the seller i got the bearings recommends grinding the old ones off as its quicker but ill try the pullers first with some hot air :) once i fixed the motor i reckon ill get another 2 years out the dryer because iv not long replaced the drum bearings and seals. its only worth repairing your dryers if you do all the labour work yourself because the drum + seals and motors bearings plus labour it would be cheaper to buy a new dryer.

I completely agree, there are so many videos available that show you how to replace components on appliances it's cost affective to at least watch them and then decide if you think you're up to the task of doing the job yourself or calling out a repair engineer and with some jobs like these bearings they would just replace the motor and charge accordingly. Good luck with the repair, but if you follow the video it's very straight forward.

+Selfix UK just an update. i replaced bearings following the steps in this video and i have successfully fixed my dryer now it no longer makes a grinding noise however couple days on its started making the same bearing noise again. not as loud but its the same sound as before. am i correct in thinking maybe the new bearings i installed are faulty.. im 100% sure i didn't damage them why installing them on the shaft and as far as i can see there i no way to lubricate the bearings are they look sealed to me. if i take the belt of the drum but still on the motor. and i pull the belt and turn it to simulate the motor turning under load you can hear the bearing noise. so im sure the problem is the bearings

It does sound as though the new bearings are faulty and you are right there is no way to lubricate them they are a sealed unit.
