Just found your channel. Great job. I have several of these engines with over 350,000 miles. They should be changed every 120,000 mi. along with the valve cover gaskets, coolant, and spark plugs. Also you really shouldn't use aftermarket for these as they usually don't flow right and make a lot of noise in my experience. You can get them from most dealers in stock for the same price if you're willing to negotiate.

Have 2002 Camry was loosing oil not leaking but burning. After few trail error find out it was my inner ring valve cover gasket. Way to tell is check your spar plugs and do cylinder pressure test around operating temp. If all cylinder hold with in 10 psi your cylinder rings are find. That lead me to do the opening valves cover which was not externally leaking but was leaking internally into my cylinder heads and spar plugs. Changed and also changed the PCV just for good measure. All oil burning stopped

The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve is a simple system that introduces filtered fresh air into the crankcase. The PCV valve uses the engine's vacuum to pull air through the crankcase and reintroduce it back into the intake manifold system.

Nice video. Short and to the point. The OEM part is under 10 bucks from the stealership so I stuck with OEM for me 2005 Camry. Your voice sounds like one of the kids in the Venture Bros.

About the thread lock adhesive thing.......doesn't it need it on the new PCV valve as well? The service Manual says "Part No. 08833-00080, THREE BOND 1344, LOCTITE 242 or equivalent" Have you faced any issues after installing it in without the adhesive? Apparently it is used on the Oil Pressure Switch as well, as the SM says, "Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch"

Did you end up using this sealant type for your pcv valve?

Hey Dan, I have a 2004 Camry and I’m having trouble with identifying a part. It is the same tubing for the pcv valve, but on the other side of the engine connected to the air intake. What is that called. Mine broke right off :(

What are symptoms of a clogged PCV valve?
@jimmypavone32313 жыл бұрын
i came here because my car is burning oil, the main symptom
@brianheath50912 жыл бұрын
@@jimmypavone3231 Why would it cause burning oil? The pressure should still be venting through the breather hose, right? Mine goes through a good quart every oil change, but I'm thinking it's a valve cover gasket instead.
@jimmypavone32312 жыл бұрын
@@brianheath5091 oh yes after I replaced it it still burns a ton of oil, I now know this is an issue for these engines made in the USA. Never buy a Toyota with a vin that doesn’t start with a J. Apparently there was some sort of limited recall by Toyota that we missed in 2017! My mechanic recommended using a heavier and conventional oil. I was going to try that this oil change. My poor car feels like she’s about to explode
