How to replace the power cable on a Makita Grinder

I have an old Makita Grinder that needed an new power cable. This is a video of how it's done.
I also breathed new life into this grinder by adding an adapter to make it compatible with newer grinder attachments. Here is a link to the adapter on Amazon.

Great video! I just replaced my power cord today (08/2024). Mine was very similar but not quite exact. Mine was manufactured in 1988. The white wire went to a small inline screw-clamp connector. I only had to replace the crimp-on eyelet on the black wire. But otherwise, all the steps were similar. I didn’t need to remove the metal plate that holds the cord protector. The cord had enough wiggle room to slide through it. I found a replacement cord at Home Depot that works very well. It’s a Husky 16/2, 8 ft cord. Right about $13 at this time.

I have a Makita GA4530R which doesn't have the standard UK 3 pin plug. Can I rewire it .

Absolutely. Just make sure to take note, or pictures of the position of the wires before removing the wires. This will ensure you have the proper polarity when installing the new cable.

Harbor Freight has a 7 piece wire wheel kit for angle grinders that comes with an M10 x1.25 and an M10 x1.5 in for $10. I just bought one of these Makita grinders new in the box but didn’t realize it was M10 thread until I got home. Glad I had that Harbor freight kit
