I just finished replacing the starter in my 2003 Vibe about 15 minutes ago, took me about an hour and a half, total, and about 10 minutes of that was looking for my jar of wire ties to replace the wire ties in the snaps that hold the fan wire and plug on the back of the shroud. I broke them getting the fan unplugged. Easily fixed once I found my wire ties, though. I'm REALLY glad I watched through the first part of this video, because I didn't realize/hadn't looked at the new starter close enough to see that one hole in the starter is threaded, because one bolt holds it in from each side. Was an easier swap out than I thought it was going to be. I did have to remove the bracket on the front of the throttle body (not the throttle body itself, though, just the bracket, which is held in with 2 bolts) in order to be able to get my hand behind it to get to the second starter bolt, the one on the driver's side. Thanks for posting this video, it absolutely saved me some time and what would have been frustration!

If I got to it from below do you think I would still need to remove fan?

Yeah that fan is right in your way, we had to remove it to get the starter out of the Vibe.

If you're talking about lifting your Vibe and tackling the starter from the bottom (like my buddy and I did), we didn't need to remove the fan; however, you'll have to remove the bumper skid plate to have better access. Either way, you're going to have to remove something in order to tackle the starter. I know this was a year ago, but I figured I'd respond with something my buddy and I did.

I’ve removed the 3 bolts and detached the relay but my starter isn’t even loose. Any suggestions?

Make sure all of the bolts are out of the starter, you might had to gently tap it with a hammer to break it free sometimes they get stuck in place especially if it has been there for a while. Hope this helps you out.
