This video shows you how to install a thermostat and housing on your 2002-2006 Honda CR-V. The thermostat controls the flow of coolant in your vehicle’s engine. When a thermostat fails, it can lead to overheating, which will damage the engine. One sign of a faulty thermostat is a cool upper radiator hose when the engine is at full operating temperature. It’s important to replace the thermostat immediately if you suspect it is failing.

why did he take the back housing off the block when the point was to replace the thermostat? Couldn't you just take the front piece off, replace the thermostat without removing everything else?

Great video but . . the torque settings you ask for are 7-8 ft/lbs, but the torque wrench you link to has a minimum torque of 25 ft/lbs - any links to a lower torque wrench?

they should be torqued down, if they are snugged in the unit may leak coolant from the gasket not creating a good enough seal
