Just curious, didn’t see where you reinstalled the retaining clip on the bearing prior to packing with grease. It’s been a year, how’s the cv holding up?

Why not pull the entire CV axel assembly out, why does everyone leave the inner housing connected to the car?

Sometimes these things get so rust welded in there, it's near impossible to remove the axles without dropping the transmission. I tried to do mine and soaked it in PB Blaster for a week, torched the fitting, and then whacked at it with a sledge hammer and a chisel to remove the axle. Gave up after 5 hours of hitting it with a chisel and hammer, and not a single millimeter of progress was made. Driver side on the 3rd gen GS shouldn't be too awful to remove though.

Not necessary to mark your spider because the spider will sit flushed inside the tulip after replacing the boot. Built drive shaft for 15+ years. Grease overkill.

Any ideas on the spires (bearings) not coming out. You seemed to pull the cv axle right out. I pull on mine and it sticks with the bearings on the lip as if it is being caught on something.

This vid is no good....hammering the axle by the threads will damage the axle and you will never get the axle nut on.... proper way is putting nut on flush to axle to protect threads...
