you need a BR coin battery. BR2032, not cheap cr2032. CR coin batteries will not last, and not heat tolerant. Do it right the first time so you don't have to change the battery again.

Once the battery has been changed, does the sensor give a signal before being connected to the rim?

Just something to hold that cap on after the battery change. Superglue would work, but might be harder to remove in a few years when next battery replacement is due. I just had mine replaced when one failed. Was getting new tires and the remainder were weak. Still cost $50 each installed and that was steeply discounted. I kept the old ones and may change the batteries and use them next go around.

Is it not easier just to buy a new sensor
@davido340311 ай бұрын
No it is not. You don't just swap them and they magically work. You have to have the electronics to reprogram and activate a new sensor and you have to know how to do it. Put a new battery and its easy to get up and running. Or I wouldn't be watching this video.

@@davido3403 Wrong David. A relearn tool is less than 10 bucks. Set of four sensors for most cars now less than 35-50 bucks on Amazon or Ebay. Never had a failure so far and a 2010 Dodge avenger has had a set from Ebay now for five years. 8 bucks for a relearn tool that you can use over and over? Come on.
@Theywaswrong4 ай бұрын
YES, MOST CERTAINLY. Check prices online at places like Amazon, Ebay, Detroit Axle, Rock Island. Cheap and same sources as local parts stores. Same thing. A set of four for less tha 35-50 bucks now. I just bought a set for a 2015 Chevy Equinox for 21 bucks including shipping/tax off Ebay. Relearn tool 8 dollars. Worked like a champ. Also have a 2010 Dodge Avenger with five year old sensors bought off Amazon for less than $35. Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram needs no programming tool at all. They self learn to the vehicle. But yeah, 8 dollars for a relearn tool. Whether you break the tire down yourself or pay a shop, your cost for sensors and a reusable programming tools are the same. $30-40-50 bucks, whatever. Changing the battery is a TOTAL waste of time and effort.

Easier cheaper and more reliable, what does he do if the sender not the battery has failed? Again, remove the wheel, tyre, sensor and fit a new one? Only in a tinpot country where labour rates are poor would any commercial mechanic waste time doing this.

What is the number on the original battery? I have the same TPMS sensor and I want to order the batteries before I open the sensors to replace the batteries.
@MikeMike-gw6vl Жыл бұрын
It is likely cr 2032 battery in most of these sensors. But I just opened one of mine and ordered batteries but found out that a battery cr2450 has the same voltage but more capacity so would last longer ,which is what you really need in order to do the job once and have a peace of mind for even longer that when it was new/original. Isn't it ? Hope it helps

I just opened mine up yesterday. It has a Maxell CR2032HR in it. The HR suffix means high temperature rating (125° C for Maxell. A non HR Panasonic is listed to 85° C). Unless you are operating in a fairly high temperature area, the regular 2032 should stay within its operating range.And the Maxell data sheet publishes an acceleration spec. The voltage was down to just under 1/2 volt, and had failed about two months ago. I am going to clip in a 3 volt battery at my local tire store and see if it works again.

What a waste of time. A set of four sensors are so cheap now from Amazon and Ebay and other online sellers. I'm still driving a 2010 Dodge Avenger with sensors five years old now and still working that cost me a little less than $30. Just bought four for a 2015 Chevy Equinox for $21 including shipping/tax. Relearn tool $8. Whether you break your tires down yourself or pay a shop to do it, it cost me just a little over $30 to do it all my self. The 8 dollar relearn tool worked perfectly. Once the tires were back on the Chevy, one minute to walk around to each tire, starting with the left front, and program them to the car. Done. Replacing the batteries is for those whose curiosity needs to be satisfied.
