Even did an oil pressure sensor that would have been charged $360. Took me 45 mins (feel only) with me laying on the motor. Next time I'll put a moving blanket down for comfort. Glad I found this video. I was looking under my truck before watching and thought I had it all figured out, but seeing how much book time the job called for I assumed I must've been missing something. My lift is currently clogged up with a non-running project car so I had to do this on my back in the driveway at like 37 degrees, racing the clock before the rain started. All said and done it only took maybe 45 minutes, and I was taking my sweet time towards the end. Probably would've been a 10 minute job on the lift, can't believe the stealership charges so much for it. SUPER simple job, I didn't have remove the grille just did it all from underneath and reached down under the hood for the line on the rad. I took the skid plates off (just a few bolts that came right out with hand tools) and had a lot more room, didn't really even have to fight with the lines to get them back into place, just a little finessing. Longest part of the job was trying to find the clip I dropped... First time in quite a while that something went super smooth and was way quicker than I thought lol. Also, since I caught the leak basically as soon as it started it barely took any Dex-VI, basically what was left in the lines and the tiny bit that sprayed out on the short drive home, still have a mostly full QT at my disposal. Great idea on taping over the ends of the lines, the bottom of my truck is real nasty so I definitely would have gotten a bunch of crud in those lines had I not covered them (which I honestly probably wouldn't have thought of on my own lol)

I used this video to do the lines in my 2011 gmc sierra. It was extremely helpful. 800 to 1000 at the dealers and I did it for 200. I'm going to take it to a transmission expert to drop the pan and put new filter and oil in it for another 200. You saved me a lot of money so I'm grateful. Being on a pension I have to watch the bottom line. Great job. Keep up the good work.

It saved much work and $$$ by watching your video. I had planned on doing the job myself but would have done unnecessary steps. I bought the 2012 Sierra new -- it still only has 55000 miles on it so i was surprised when the transmission line began to leak.

Thank you so much guys for the extremely helpful video! On a 2012, there is a metal harness that holds the lines above the axle. Cant hardly get to it from any angle and it kept the lines binding. That thing was an absolute PAIN to maneuver around, had to bend it up and away. That was the main hold up, thanks guys for the video.

you can do that job in less than an hour taking your time by cutting out the original leaking rubber lines, flaring the metal tubing ends and replacing the leaky cut out rubber lines with new aftermarket rubber transmission cooler lines and hose clamp on place. Just like you do when installing an aftermarket transmission oil cooler.

That is absolutely one option! We opted to go with the OEM route, but of course, the aftermarket choice is acceptable if done correctly.

I like to use nitrel glove finger tips for feeding cables and hydraulic lines. I don’t have baggies in the shop but lots of gloves. Finger tips and a zip tie zap strap whatever your dad told you it was called.

Routing those lines by yourself is a huge pain. Take it from me, watch what theyre banging into on both ends. The metal part of the lines bend easily and once they bend if you bend them back they snap. Also, foam earplugs work great as foreign matter exclusion for those lines.

Great vid. You make it look easy. How long did this take from start to finish? I have a 2007 avalanche that needs this. Ive done this on a 2005 Avalanche, its much easier.

This job probably only takes about an hour start to finish, not too bad. The hardest part is feeding/routing the lines - helps to have a second set of hands to maneuver them! Kyle had Dale helping him in this video

I did this over the weekend, didn't lose too much fluid other than from the cooler, when I check the fluid It's at the cold marrk or slightly over at 147, haven't been able to get it up to 160 to verify it in the hot zone, is this normal?

Yes. The trans cooler keeps the temp down, particularly in cooler weather or when you're not under much load.

@NiceGuysGASS so at 145-147, it's normal to be right at cold or between cold and hot? I just want to make sure I don't need to top off with fluid but since I can't get it to hot after driving it I don't want to end up overfilling

At 145, between hot and cold would be correct. Confirm this by checking it when it's cold, about 3 minutes after you start the engine. If it's at the cold line after startup, and inbetween hot and cold at 145 - you should be good to go

I replaced my radiator last week and I've had transmission fluid leaking from the top cooler line, is there an o ring that's supposed to be in there that would cause it to leak when missing?

Yes the adapter the line pops into has an o ring in there, you have to take the line out and remove the adapter from the radiator to get it out. Usually the new radiators have new adaptors, but it's possible the o ring got pinched by the line.

Need to replace lines on my 2011 sierra 1500 ext 4x4 but can't find the part numbers you list. Only the auxiliary line i can find. Other parts ending in 415 and 417, but not 419. Also 22802047 for lower. One parts place only lists two options for my truck being 22802047 and 15779543. Any suggestions on finding the correct parts? I'm assuming mine is standard parts. It's not an HD model or anything special, just an SLE i believe. 4.8L engine.

Ok after looking harder, i have no auxiliary cooler. So I'm not sure why it's recommending me the aux cooler line. I believe the correct parts judging by pictures of the radiotor side shape are: Upper 25999417 Lower 22802047 Any way to confirm this from my glove box or vin?

Not that we know of, but usually we cross reference two sites (Amazon and Rock Auto, or Rock Auto and Napa, etc). Make sure you choose the options that match your truck (engine, 4x4, no aux cooler, etc). Then full send, take the old ones off and match them up to your new ones. If they're different, return them and bring the old ones with you to match them up. If all else fails, you can buy parts from the dealership... but that gets expensive

Pressure, fittings, heat, longevity, safety, etc. There are some parts that should just be replaced with OEM stuff. This is one of those parts.
