same here, I bought 5 pairs of switches for my controllers (I have 4 controllers at home that need care, the 5th is to have 1 spare) and also 5 bumpers/trigger sets.. hopefully that's all I need. All in all tho, it is still cheaper than buying 1 controller even, but to be honest I'm worried about the soldering and worrying if you have to calibrate it later on as I'm seeing in other videos
@getit71073 жыл бұрын
RB would be the easiest to start with since it's just pull and replace the tactile switch but definitely need solder wick or solder sucker to clear the holes out properly.

I ordered the kit and I replaced the joysticks on two Xbox one controllers. I took my time and desoldered the potentiometers first, then desoldered the rest, I used flux and added solder to all the points I was removing, made it much easier for the wick to absorb the solder. I made sure the pads weren’t burnt off and cleaned them really well with the wick, used isopropyl to clean up afterwards, made sure the new pot sat flat and didn’t move around while soldering it down, After I was done I tested them out and it’s on point, no need to calibrate, Thanks for the video! 👍🏼

Sir which one is the easier to repair/replace parts for newbies who tried soldering? Is it the Xbox 360 wired controller or the newer Xbox One/S/X controller? We replaced a Logitech g102 mouse clicker and already had a hard time, took 2 of us working together for about 3+ hours and that's by simply removing the soldered parts on the board. Good thing applying soldering iron with soldering paste is not hard. We plan to pick up cheaper used Xbox controllers for couch co-op, split screen or controller gaming on PC, I don't think we can handle very intricate and high level soldering for the moment. Cheap fake Xbox controllers don't last long 2 weeks max and will have stick drift and sunken buttons issues by then. Those original Xbox controllers last a long while before stick drift and sunken buttons happen.

Nice to read about your progress! I also have been Learning and yesterday I placed 2 new sticks on my elite 2 and they looked.so freaking good but the sticks werent perfect and 1 was really bad. I placed everything perfect but i guess there is more to it than just placing it correctly or the sticks I had are bad that could be because I asked the seller and he told me I sucked xD I'm going to try again today because the controller still works but like you said this is some next level stuff. I soldered in the new sticks with the soldering iron btw and the solder that wouldn't come out I heated with the heat gun and than pushed out with a needle. That was the hardest part for me to learn. I removed the sticks with my heat gun and alot of flux and I do it in like 1 min because of 480° heat. The Xbox boards have alot of metals inside so if you protect the sensitive parts with heat tape than the board takes alot of heat and all the spots become soft. I recommends reflowing Xbox 360 if you can get them dirt cheap with extra stuff like controllers. If you do it well it has so far worked for me every time I did it. But watch out with the xboxes without hdmi cabels because they have like 100 fat caps that are bulging. Also I recommend alot that you guys go and fix all of the Nintendo ds models. When you learn it it's easy to sell them because it's Nintendo. Hope you guys are also learning alot of stuff like me! Help from channels like this makes a great difference to me also :) Have a good day!

The negative reviews on this kit are pretty bad. Seems like the new sticks are more sensitive and jumpy than the originals, meaning they're cheap knockoffs. It looks like they're quite snappy in your test too. I've been having that experience with others; I've bought two different types of joysticks from various sellers, one claimed to be originals but they all sucked equally. The only passable potentiometers I have are salvaged from a razer controller, but I don't have enough of them for a project. Anyway, if you find some joysticks or potentiometers that have linear resistance like the originals, let me know. I'll try buying some from SOSS Gaming on youtube/amazon, they claim to be selling originals and have a YT vid showing how linear they are.
@ColinJWiens2 жыл бұрын
@@calvin659 Calibration doesn't affect the quality of the joysticks, it defines the center-position and outer limits of the joysticks. 95% of joysticks that claim to be original are fake garbage, even when they look the exact-same as originals. No amount of calibration will fix them. With the bad ones you can't walk slowly ingame. They jump from nothing to full instantly, with nothing in-between. Plus they're extra stiff around the center. An update on my original comment, the SOSS ones are good. So far they're the only reliable seller I've found.

the sensors you're referring to are potentiometers and if they have a balanced resistance from the wiper to the outputs then they don't need any adjustments.
